PRIOR LAKE, Minn. (AP) — A woman whose son was shot and killed outside a Minneapolis night club had a chance to celebrate his life with those he helped save.
Ragan Durrenberger was 24 years old when he was killed outside the South Beach club. His donated organs helped four people live.
On the 11th anniversary of her son's death Sunday, Becky Durrenberger met Michelle Ash, the recipient of a kidney. Ash told Durrenberger her son gave her the gift of life.
Mark Abrahamson also got a kidney from Ragan. Abrahamson says at least once a year he visits a memorial in Prior Lake that's dedicated to Ragan so he never forgets how fortunate he is.
Donate Life Minnesota says more than 2,700 people are waiting for a life-saving organ transplants in the Upper Midwest.
