I was transplanted 4 months ago, and I .have a terrible time sleeping now!  I have a hard time going to sleep and a hard time staying asleep. I have heard prograf can cause this  I am currently on 5 mg. in the a.m. and 6 mg in the p.m. They've been gradually reducing my dose, and I had been hoping that would help, but it hasn't ....
Anyone else have trouble sleeping post transplant?

I sure did! And still do. Although it is not as bad as right after the transplant. Have you talked to your doctor?

Are you on prednisone? I had the most debilitating insomnia as a kid after my transplant thanks to prednisone. I don't know about prograf as I've never taken it, but if others are saying this is a side effect, then I would bet that that is the problem.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Best of luck finding a solution!

I'm about 1 and half post and i take prograf ,cellcept and prednisone i still have trouble sleeping and staying asleep. I have discussed this with tx clinic they prescribed me ambien to help me but the down side to that it causes short term memory loss but its helps me sleep.And was told to  take a Tylenol pm or benedryl to help me sleep,that seems to work also.Hope this helps..God Bless!!!.....Chris

I am on Prograf and CellCept alone and have trouble sleeping. I was really bad right after the transplant. Now I just get 3 to 4 hours sleep, but I have been mostly a night person anyway since I was a kid. It will get slightly better. Have you asked for a sleep medication? Those helped me later on. The first time I told them, they gave me Ambien and that did not work. Now I'm on Prosom, but I never take it because I forget to because I am on the PC or I don't feel good and fall asleep on my own.

Good Luck.

 I have talked to my doctors about it, and they told me to try benadryl or melatonin.  Neither of these seemed to work for me.
They finally gave me a prescription for Ambien!  It seems to work well for me (hooray!), but I don't want to get in the habit of taking one every night, the docs don't want me to either............... They did not give me any refills on the prescription though, so I'm almost out of it.

Do any of you take a sleeping aid every night? Do your docs have a problem with it?

My docs gave me refills but I usually don't take the pills and lately haven't had the trouble of sleeping. I have had trouble sleeping to much now and now miss my insomnia. I got more done with my insomnia. :urcrazy;

High dose Prednisone is what gave me insomnia after transplant.
