My dad started on standard, but was switched to the  tidal  program due to drain pain. Labs came back 1.7 when they want us at 2 or above. Would it help the quality of dialysis to try standard mode again as my dad has gotten more tolerant to the drain pain? PD nurse taking a long time to look into this so thought I would throw it out for discussion here.

it cant hurt to give it another try.
I had the dreaded drain pain and it pretty much passed after about a week.
Do the standard and if it gets to bad teach your father how to bypass the rest of the drain.

Another option is to do tidal at night and then to do manual drain on the morning to drain out the dirty solution before filling in the solution for the day.  That way, he would not feel much pain during the sleeping when draining.
