I think Jon Stewart does more substantive interviews than what you'll see on the cable news channels. I watch the cable news but when O'Reilly talks to Rep. Franks or Maddow talks to the guy from Americans for Prosperity, I don't think it is as informative as when Stewart talks to Bolton.
So I was happy to read this article from New York magazine
http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2009/08/why_conservative_pundits_love.html that quotes leading conservatives - Bolton, Cliff May, Bill Kristol - as saying they think Stewart does a good job.
I think the many anchors at all three of the cable channels should learn from Stewart's style for interviewing people who he does not agree with (I think the article is right that Stewart isn't as good with people who are closer to him politically).
It would be very useful if there was someone like Stewart on the Right that could regularly interview people they politically disagree with that was enjoyable to watch and informative. I think William F Buckley did this, granted in a much more high brow way than Stewart, but still I think people who disagreed with Buckley enjoyed talking with him. Is there anyone on the right like that today?
