I'm new here

Actually I've been lurking a little but decided to join. My kidney transplant (3/98) failed and I've been on dialysis since early May. I'm doing hemo right now but thinking of switching to PD. I'm currently on long term disability from my job and living with my parents so they can help me recover (so strange to move back in at the age of 40). I've been in and out of the hospital 5 times since the beginning of the year so recovery is slow. I don't remember a lot from my one visit so I don't even remember consenting to dialysis so it was strange to find out I was doing it once I was more conscious. I don't love it but my body has finally gotten used to it. I'm lucky beccause I only have a 3 hour treatment. I guess that's my intro for now. I like this site.

Sorry about your failed transplant but I hope you can get another if at all possible. I just had my second one in February of this year and so far so good. I'm glad you found this site because it's really really helpful for all of us who must cope with this kidney stuff. Post often.

Welcome. What caused your transplanted kidney to fail? I'm sorry you're back on dialysis, but so glad you found us here.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
To answer the question, my kidney probably failed as a result of Prograf toxicity. Although I also have a problem with CMV. And it might be age also because my kidney is now 67. I had so many problems that they don't have a decent answer for me for the rejection.
The doctor told me last night that although he thinks I'll be fine on PD he wants me to wait to switch from hemo until the CMV and c. diff are better. Sigh.

Welcome to our community! I particularly like delurkers! I don't have to convince you that this is the best place for information, support and fun! All I have to let you know is that you are now part of the IHD family
a group of sharing and caring people who will be with you all along this renal journey. Just keep reading and keep posting.
