Zach I reckon that's a fantastic way to bring us back on topic.

It's funny really but that article reminds me of the common every day products we take for granted that originally came out of military, space or medical technoligy advances. Think of stuff like Velcro or more effcient engines, TV's etc.. and of course we possibly wouldn't be using the internet to natter away here and talk about coke machines if it wasn't for the US military DARPA who started the original research into the technologies that wound up in the various internet protocols and infrastructure we take for granted today. Of course their goal was to create an electronic communications network that would be reliable enough to work in wartime(inc. nuclear) conditions... well we didn't quite get that, but once the technology/research got out it took off like hot cakes and now here we are.

The other day at dialysis one of the nurses used my laptop to watch a DVD about the history of dialysis for her studies. I actually found it really interesting. Back in the 40's at one point they actually used sausage skins as part of the process!!

Hey - I included this article to begin with because it has the term "dialysis" in the article! :beer1;
