the same tech with the stabbing aim was my tech today, (she knows someone else will stick me-) so, I had my right arm in the needles and my left arm in the blood pressure cuff and I asked her if I could please have my legs up -- she told me to do it myself ---- I have been there for almost 5 years and I have never been told that -- I did not know we could - the latch I move is on my right side -and I had to turn my arm funny to reach it -- very awkward ---- ? am I over sensitive or was that rude?

Definitely rude. I truly cannot believe she said that. Did she stab you again to add injury to insult?
I started at my new center this morning. It was great getting there in under 10 minutes. The tech had a real problem getting the second needle in. I have always had the techs get me on the 1st stick. This tech was just digging and digging. I am wincing and he asked me if it hurt. (Duh) I was very polite about it but I almost asked for someone else. At least he was concerned about the pain he was inflicting on me. Meanwhile I ended up with 3 holes today and a very painful arm still.

You are definitely not being petty. The techs we have are very helpful. They will help us with our chairs, bring us ice or coffee, bring us an extra blanket and help us get through a cramp in our feet and legs.
I am so sorry you are having to go through this.

This tech is definitely rude. Your center must be desperate for techs. This one is not only incompetent but also rude. The fact that she remains employed there speaks volumes about the way the clinic is being managed.

this tech also refuses to fold blankets after treatment - not a problem for me - I suff mine in my bag - but some patients bring a couple of blankets - most techs fold them this tech is in school to be a nurse - I hope she passes and goes to some other job this unit stopped serving coffee and will only bring us one cup of ice/water that is 6 ounces if you are lucky and they acknowledge your request funny how their hearing goes

I am kind of thinking it might be a better idea if she does NOT become a nurse. Can you imagine her in a position of authority? Or what she would do if you had a heart attack on the machine? She would probably tell you to "Give yourself CPR."

words of wisdom from David13 and I agree -- she would have more authority as a nurse
when she is my tech, I am not asking her to please put my feet up --- when a nurse walks by I will ask her or better yet the director but she does not get there until after 8am yes, I can do it myself but if I do it before I get hooked up the chair will be in the way and if I wait until I am hooked up -- well, it is hard -- right arm in BP cuff and left arm in needles -- it was not made for patients to do

I would put my own feet up, before they stick me and anyone complain that the chair is in the way like that I'd explain what was said to me about doing it myself and also explain that I don't plan to blow my sites putting up the chair so they'll have to work around it.
I would also document this foolishness in a note to the director and also give a copy to Ms. Smartypants Tech herself.

Rude and a half, twirl. When I was on hemo, they put my legs up automatically. I would definitely complain. You have rights as a patient.

the main chairs in my clinic cannot be put up by the patient. the new chairs, the ones for nocturnal can easily. yes the tech was rude. and i wouldn't worry about your feet being in the way. i'm very lucky all the techs at night are great and i always have the same one.

Definitely rude.. when I did hemo they didn't want us to do anything by ourselves when we were hooked up for fear of us hurting something. They were always nice anytime I asked for help with anything (I'd usually try to do it myself first and get yelled at ;P)

Peleroja has a good point. Aren't the patient's feet supposed to be elevated to avoid drops in blood pressure?

thanks if I get her Friday, and I will, no one else will take her ---- I am going to wait and ask someone else to help me and just say Angel wants me to do it myself and it is too hard to reach - I will make sure my needles are in and my blood pressure cuff is on --- I hate dialysis and then I have to put up with this -- no coffee, 6 ounces of water/ice - if you beg and you are damn lucky to get it I have to be on dialysis but I am still a person who counts ? right ?

I wonder if a trip to Goode Company Seafood for gumbo would get me out of this dialysis induced depression??? And I don't know what silly thing you did, but I'm sure the answer to this question is Yes You Are?
