Trip to Hospital

Last week I thought I had a UTI and after dialysis I left a sample and went home on Wednesday night. Thursday my temp went up to over 101 and would not go down. So I went to my primary care and he prescribed an antibiotic on Thursday morning. My temp then went to over 102 and I couldn't keep anything down so clinic told me to go to ER. So off we went at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. My test for the UTI still wasn't back, so the ER didn't do much except admit me where I thought I would be for 1 day or so. Well, my test came back and it was a UTI, but they also did a blood culture and I had staph. MSSA, not MRSA at least. So 5 days later I am home. They had to remove my catheter after I had dialysis on Friday at the hospital and moved it to the other side of my chest. They did that on Monday morning and then sent me straight to the dialysis unit in the hospital. I did see my surgeon while I was in the hospital and he said my fistula only needs about two more weeks. After this I am ready to get rid of the catheter.

I will say with the exception on one dialysis nurse at the hospital, I truly had wonderful care. My doctors all made timely rounds. My procedures were all done when they said they would be done. And the nursing staff (RNs and aides) were all great. One dialysis nurse decided to challenge my dry weight and take an extra kilo even though I told her I am losing weight (on purpose) and I had lost weight in the hospital because I wasn't eating well. I did fine until the last 10 minutes of treatment and the cramps really started. But the worst part was last night, I had the worst leg cramp, from the calf down, that I have ever had in my life. I was up with it for over 30 minutes. I am ready to go back to my clinic where they know me and listen to me.
