THIS MEMBER IS BANNED FROM IHD

« on: May 21, 2009, 11:39:27 AM »

I'm old and set in my ways. Yes I am in recovery. That doesn't mean much to someone that is not in recovery or to someone that hasn't had the need to be in recovery, and sometimes I get a little hard-nosed when there is something that sounds to me like crybaby drug seeking, even though it's completely not. It's ingrained in me because that's what it took for me to quit drinking. Sometimes I get out of space. I am cured according to the AMA, but maybe I need to be cured from the brain washing that I took from AA and stop trying to help people that in all actuality don't need help. I'm sorry Neo.

Hurlock, I'm so glad that you apologized to Neo and recognized that you were perhaps projecting some of your own stuff on to him.  This is the first comment I've made since you said what you said but I felt very protective of Neo when I read your comments and felt that you had sorely misunderstood some things.  I also however did not want to say anything nasty to you since I think it's really important to try not to judge others and my guess is that things haven't always been super easy for you either.   I personally feel very close to all of the members here, even to those with whom I would strongly disagree on many things.  Our common struggle is our common bond and we would do well to remember that.

It takes insight and guts to stand up and admit that one made a mistake and to offer an apology.  I'm glad you did both.   :grouphug;

I really didn't read all of the original posts.  I simply don't  like conflict.  So I'm making no judgements either way but I think this is very big of you to apologize.  You deserve credit for overcoming your additions.  You did the right thing.  My sincerest wish is that Neo will accept your apology graciously and if possible, the two of you can become friends.

I think this  whole thing was a big misunderstand.  I read the old posts and I think your statements could have been taken either way.  I thought there were some unecerrarily negaltive comments made from the other side.  Wouldn't if be nice if we could have apologies coming from both points of view.  We shouldn't take sides anyway.

Very big of you to aplogize. Not to upset the cart, but I also picked up on those red flags that you have noticed and expressed. I am very sensitive to certain warning signs and behavior. It takes courage (and caring) to confront those perceived red flags in others - whether they are right or wrong. It took the same courage for you to make amends.

You are not completely alone in your observations and opinions Hurlock.

What does 'THREAD LOCKED' mean?
Is a way of controlling discussion?

Yes.... they don't like name calling and stuff.  Hurlock apologized.  What else can he do?  The  apology is for him self more than anything else and he has done all he can do.  More power to hurlock.  Lets all just let it go.  I'm on here for support.  If I want conflict I'll go  to the political blogs....

huh?
...just to let you know...in my perception your post just now was more 'conflicting' than the entire run of posts. I'm sure you didn't mean it and I'm sure others won't perceive it that way. I guess it's how we perceive things that make them conflicting or not. I didn't regard that thread as negative at all. For me personally, banning discussion is more hurtful than letting it takes it's course. But I'm just a member. I don't get personally invested in forum discussion any more as much as I find all of our differences interesting - including the moderators.

I didn't mean  it to be.  See what happens!  I just want it to stop.  I see how Hurlocks message could have been misconstrued but I didn't see then that way.  I'm sorry if I offended you.  Since I've been on here I've been called vain and a smart ass and a bad speller.  I was offended each time but on revisiting the situation I see how they were all meant to be positive (except the smart ass thing and I see how it is true).  Sorry again, for  offending.
