I started the training today my husband is my partner, it is so different it feels like it is going to be less confining more freedom and less restrictions. I have read alot of the posts about being on the NxStage machine how everyones labs are better and how you feel I cant wait it sounds so good. :cheer: :cheer:

You are gonna like having more control over your treatments.  Don't worry if you stumble a little in the beginning - it all smoothes out rather quickly.  Be sure to ask if you have any questions, many of us have been using that machine for a long time.

I've been using the bags with ours, but we are switching to Pureflow in a couple of weeks. Go in for two days of training and then switch. Looking forward to that.

NxStage is awesome.

Way to go, Dave!

You've obviously got a good one there, Cookie!

I know that I started cannulating my Marvin during our second week of NxStage training.  I was scared to death, but I didn't let it show.  I just took those needles (and I had never TOUCHED needles before) like they were mine, I followed the nurse's directions, and away I went.  Marvin said I was so confident -- he couldn't see that all of my insides were quivering.  I've been the only one to cannulate Marvin's fistula now for almost two years.  Nothing to it.  Why was I so scared?

Training is going good, I had my stitches out today and my surgeon will check it again in 4 weeks he wants to give my fistula time to heal which I am happy. We start at home on wed 6/10, my nurse that is training us is coming to our house on wed to help and make sure everything is setup ok. We will be using the bags.

Good luck!!!  When it comes time to use the fistula - will you need another session with the nurse since you weren't able to use it as much during the training?  Do you have all the supplies necessary (needles) for dialysis with the fistula?
