Wow, they were right, i does exist. A friend told me about this site and I am so glad to see there are others like me than can laugh as well as cry about having to go thru this...adventure. ESRD was my 30th b-day gift and it's almost one year later. One day I woke up with a head ache, three days later woke up with a posi-port sticking out of my chest, two days later i woke up to this thing buzzing in my wrist. Three days a week I get my ass kicked hemo and no one can tell me why other than "yea, that happens to some people". Hopefully If I can edjucate myself more I can overcome the feeling like this runs/ruins my life. Hope the best to all of you.

Hi Scud. Great to have you here. It's a good place to come cos you can vent and rant all you like, and we all completely understand! Yes, sometimes it feels like dialysis runs/ruins your life, but other times it doesn't. Do you have to do haemo? Any chance of changing to PD?

PD has been an option, but I hated that cathater so much I can't stand the thought of another tube sticking out of me. Sorry to be insenitive about it but all the scars and damage to my hand ( my fistula is amazing, but i've got nerve damage in my wrist ) have made me sick of pain. If I could only reduce the horrible numbness, cramping, and general crappy feeling that knocks me down for a least few hours if not all day.

Welcome, Welcome!
It sounds like you do 3/days hemo in center. My husband also can't stand the thought of the PD tube in his stomach. We do NxStage home hemo and he feels GREAT!!! Doing it six days reduces that stress on the other organs and keeps his levels steady. You might want to look into it if you have a partner who could help.
Post often and share your adventures!

Oh I can understand how you feel about the tubes etc. You will get used to the dialysis - it's a bit like being an athlete I think. Your body gets 'dialysis fit' after a while. The first few weeks are pretty hard - but you'll get there. Thinking of you and sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.

Hi Scuderia813 ,
I had that numbness too in my wrist and nervetingling along my thumb. It took over a year to go away though even though my fistula stopped working after 3 months.
Welcome to the club.
