Well, as of today I'm six months post transplant and doing GREAT!  Whoo-Hoo!  :yahoo;  As most of you know my transplant and recovery have been incident free and I feel very blessed!  I'm an extremely compliant patient anyway and it didn't hurt that I was already on a lot of meds before transplant, so the routine of all the post transplant meds was no problem for me.  Once I worked out all my phone alarms, I now carry my phone with me, as well as my daily pill case, like second nature.

My labs up to this point have been very good.  My creatinine seems to stay at 1.0 - 1.1, my blood sugar is perfect, my phosphorus is in the middle range and my potassium is low (don't know why, as I seem to eat enough stuff with potassium ???)   My weight has been my only issue, but at least it has stopped going up!  I'm now waiting for it to start to go down!  But if that's my only problem, I will deal with it.  I'll complain, but that's the way I deal.   ;)

I see my neph. again on the 14th and can't wait to see my labs.

Thank you Lord!  Thank you Irene (my sis-in-law, donor)!

How come six months sounds so long and so not long at the same time?
I hear "OMG!  You had a KIDNEY TRANSPLANT just SIX months ago?  That's amazing!"
And I think to myself  "Wow.  It's already been SIX months since transplant?  Where does the time go?"

Strange.

I know exactly what you mean about the time warp!

And, Kelly, I am just thrilled to hear this wonderful news. I get all misty-eyed when I read transplant stories. It is inspirational for all of us waiting for the call (or to have a donor accepted). This gives us hope.

May you continue to enjoy all the pleasures of life with your transplant.

This is so fantastic Kelly!  I am so happy for you!  You are a true fighter!  Please do keep an eye on all your labs.  My blood sugar started creeping at about 5 months.
