Well, that's just one bad nurse. A bad nurse is a bad nurse regardless of colour.

As for run-on sentences, I purposely do it.

I've worked with both white and black nurses who weren't worth a damn, so I really don't know.  I think laziness is more upbringing than racial or cultural.  I'll fully agree with you regarding the Filipino nurses.  Very hard working for the most part.  I've also noted that they are either afraid to complain about employer of co-workers or else it's just not part of their culture.  Hell man, complaining about work is as American as apple pie, but they don't do it.  Because of their nature, many of them do get shit on alot.  No complains though, at least not in English.

I agree with Blackjack that laziness is more upbringing than racial or cultural.  I am living in a predominantly black country and the nurses at the hospital here are, with hardly any exception, hardworking, caring and professional.  Maybe it is because they are not a despised minority group here, suffering from an ingrained prejudice which is following them into the 21st century. (Also, I can only tell the difference between them and the cleaners because of the uniforms that they wear)
One thing I have seen from dialysis - the blood that runs from me into my machine is the same colour as the blood of the white guy who is also on dialysis.

A black nurse from Trinidad gave me my first dialysis treatment in the hospital... I was somewhat worried, because my father was with me and he's a racist.  So there I was, not only worried about my first dialysis, but also worried about my father starting some crap with the nurse!

I was pretty surprised when, after my needles were in, my nurse and my father proceeded to have a 2-hour yak-fest about the different islands!  My parents had just gotten back from St. Maarten, and my father was happily chatting away with the nurse about different places to go on vacation.  They were having such a good time that they were ignoring me!  An alarm would go off on my machine and the nurse would adjust the flow, and then she went right back to talking to my father.  Talk about freaky!  I couldn't wait to tell my mother about it when I went home the next day.

At my unit, we've had lazy, unprofessional nurses of every color... and interestingly, the only prejudiced staff member is a white charge nurse.  She finds ways to get rid of black nurses that she doesn't like, but surprisingly she doesn't have a problem with Puerto Rican nurses. (She's even prejudiced in her prejudices!)

I've always hated lazy people and whiners.  No matter what color.  That is what I hate most about kidney failure.  I appear to others as lazy.  I'm always tired.  I'm always this or that.  Blah, Blah, Blah

Sorry ignorance and laziness knows no color or boundries.  I have noticed when I was in London that the black people (or African decent, whatever the PC terms is today) did not harbor any grudges towards caucasion people like in the United States.
An Italian friend of mine who came to US explained to me he is an American first not Italian-American. I found this to be very patriotic of him.
