Hi Everyone! My name is Liza.I'm 49 and I currently live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida although I'm really a New Englander.I'm sure I'll end up back there but for now this is where I need to be.I started dialysis in1989 due to Lupus. It seems like the Lupus came, did it's damage, and then went away all before I knew I had it. I was on dialysis for 4 years and then I got a transplant(from a cadaver),That lasted 6 years and I've been on dialysis ever since(10 years).I've always done in-center hemo 3 times a week,3hrs 15mins.I started that way because my kids were young then and I could go while they were at school and then be there for them when they got home. Also, it was important to me to go to dialysis and then leave it all there when I came home so that my kids were not constantly reminded that their mother was sick.I wanted them to have a normal happy childhood and that meant not having to worry about me all the time.Recently,I started in-center nocturnal hemo and it was the best thing I ever did!I feel sooo much better physically and mentally and I didn't think I was feeling that bad to begin with.My phosphorus is in the normal range for the first time in 10 years and everyday is a good day now,not just the off-dialysis days. Now the next step for me is home hemo and then all will be right but I'm having trouble finding what I need to make this happen.I guess I'll go to the home hemo section to look for some answers and if I can't find them I'll post my questions there.See ya!

:welcomesign; Liza.  Nocturnal is a terrific option and it's great to hear how well you're doing on it.  Now, you can start doing your own needles and try it at home.  If you don't like it you can always go back in-center I assume.  I look forward to getting to know you better through this site.
