My husband Paul made a container thing for my cycler to sit in which shuts up most of the noise - I must put a photo on one day.  Well, it has a lift up lid, and tonight as I went to put the 6l bag onto the machine I caught it on the corner of the lid and ripped a hole in it.  Ha ha ha ha ha.  An ERUPTION of fluid poured out as I ran with it to the bathroom!!!!  Paul is out at a Ry Cooder concert - so there I was with peritoneal fluid all over the carpet.  However, a towel and a lot of stamping later it's all pretty much mopped up.  Will clean it properly tomorrow. 
My positive - well I have two.
a) I find these kinds of things really funny, and immediately want to paint a picture or something
b) I have been doing PD for 18 months and this is the first time I've had an accident like that. (Not counting the leaking bag in the car)
I'm still giggling.  Maybe that's the steroids I have to take on a Wednesday????

Diagnosed Nov 2007 with Multiple Myeloma.
By Jan 2008 was in end stage renal failure and on haemodialysis.
Changed to CAPD in April 2008.  Now on PD with a cycler.  Working very part time - teaching music.  Love it.  Husband is Paul (we're both 46), daughter Molly is 13.

That's why I like Bern (hanify).  It's either comedy or drama!  Hey, with everything that's going on personally and globally, you might as well laugh.  Laugh lines are far more attractive than frown lines.

Amanda (12) is spending a couple of days with me.  Her birthday was Sunday, so I have been telling her all about the day she was born and how special it was for me.  I got to have her after her middle of the night feeding and I would sit in a rocker for three hours, holding this precious new baby.   Even with life's ups and downs, holding a baby makes everything good!  And I am grateful for the relationship I have with this lovely young lady.   My daily positive---time with my granddaughter   :2thumbsup;

Aw. Paris. That is so sweet.

I remember when Willow was born and I got to spend a week in Massachusetts. I cried so hard when I had to leave. New babies. There is nothing, nothing like them. And then to watch them grow. Such memories. Thanks.

My positive is that I had a really, really good day at school today. The kiddos were so self-motivated and busy today. What a treat.

It's my 18th wedding anniversary today (today being 16 Nov here).  We got married on 16.11.91 which can be turned upside down and still says 16.11.91.  Only works here cos we don't follow the American way of putting the month first.  So for us 9/11 is actually 11/9!

Happy 18th wedding anniversary!!!  May you enjoy many more!!

My daily positive - I shall have my second battle with the 'experts' over fluid withdrawal to-day, and I shall win and annoy some people in the process. A double plus!!

Thanks for your thoughts Galvo!  Since this is the "daily positives" thread...there were many positives about my fistula surgery.  Although my friend who was supposed to drive me backed out at the last minute and I had to drive myself there, the surgeon agreed not to give me anesthesia so I could drive myself home  :clap;

Then, God sent me an angel...the nurse anesthetist sat and talked to me the entire surgery so I didn't have to think about what was going on!  He shared scripture with me and showed me pictures of his beautiful family. 

I have a lovely fistula on my wrist just above my hand  ;D  Yes, it bled like crazy last night, and yes it hurts terribly, and yes, it's very swollen and very black and blue...I was really concerned so I drove over to my dialysis unit today (on my non dialysis day!) and my sweet nurses took off the bandages and listened to it and reassured me it looks and sounds great.  They are so good to me :angel;

I have much to be thankful for, and can't wait to use my fistula, hopefully in a few months!!

My positive - I lost 4 lbs this week!!  Yippee ( no smilies to use).  Another positive- hubby has been doing nocturnal home hemo for over 3 years so no more dealing with the schedule at the dialysis unit!!!

Galvo that's great!  I hope it goes well and you get a good report on your veins.  Seems that's the most important thing, that the surgeon sees some veins he or she likes.  Being a bit younger helps with that  ;)  Let us know what happens!  God willing you & I will both be catheder free in a few months!

I have been fortunate to spend the last 2 days at the beach. It was warm and clear and the sunset divine!
Walked for 2 hours on the sand, it renews my soul...

Jenna is our daughter, bad bladder damaged her kidneys.
Was on in-center hemodialysis 2003-2007.
7 yr transplant lost due to rejection.

Made it through another week's Pilates class and managed to do some things I wasn't able to before.  Also talked my pal, Paul the fireman, into joining the class and was highly amused by how sweaty he got doing our mat workout.  My amusement was matched only by his complete surprise.

Oh yeah and loving this rainy day!

(2 1/2 hours X 5 weekly)
Self-cannulated, 15 gauge blunts, buttonholes.
Living donor transplant (sister-in law Kathy) Feb. 2009
First failed kidney transplant removed Apr.  2009
Second trx doing great so far...all lab values in normal ranges

Just before leaving school tonight the Dean of Academic Affairs at Howard Taft University contacted me about developing some Montessori courses for their masters degree in education.

A couple of weeks ago the Dean of the school of Education had called me and I helped him find out what he needed for reaching out to the Montessori community. He mentioned that they might be interested in finding someone to work with them, but I figured that was months or even years down the road.

Interesting.

Intriguing. This may be a very nice opportunity, and right up my alley. ;-)

My daily postivie?   I received an amazing wall carving today from a dear friend.  Baba and I have known each other since our teen years. He owns an art gallery and just returned from Italy where some of his carvings were being shown.  I have never owned one of his pieces----couldn't afford it!   But, this came today---no note, just this piece of art.  We don't get to see each other often, but we know how much we love each other.    :cuddle;

Yesterday I got the most beautiful hand made greeting card and for no special occasion.  I can't tell you who it was from though, but somebody out their likes me.

And Des, I think I have an inkling of what you are felling about your friends from all over the world, because I feel that way too. And that really is a positive.

What's past is prologue

It appears almost certain that the company where my husband contracts is going to survive. My husband should be hired on as a full time employee within a week or two, we will get access to group health insurance, I can have a transplant without divorcing my husband and divesting myself of all of my assests. This is huge for us.

And it won't be just any job for Gwyn, this will be the most challenging job he has ever undertaken. The owner has offered a ridiculously low salary - the lowest salary my husband has ever earned in America and he has lived here almost 15 years - but if all goes well, he will make up for that in bonuses. I am so relieved. We have been strung along by this owner for over six months, but for the first time, I actually believe what this guy has been telling us.
