I've always had a tough spirit (my daddy says I'm a "fighter").  But, for years now, I've been worn down by the pressures, the stress, and the burdens of being a caregiver to a sick husband, being a home hemo partner to him, working full-time with hard-headed children (high school -- and, Good Lord! teen-agers have certainly changed in all the years I've been teaching), and trying to keep our house going, our bills paid, and our clothes clean.  I've seen my "fighting" spirit fading away the last couple of years, but I haven't been able to get a hold on it to hang on to it.

Today, however, I feel my old spirit back in me.  I saw what I thought was an injustice and I saw a friend of mine being unjustly attacked.  I stood up and said something.  This, to me, is definitely a positive because I think it's my fighting spirit that has kept me and Marvin going through some pretty dark days.  I'm glad a glipse of the "old" me has crept up.  I hope you friends here on IHD can take me like this.  I hope I don't get banned from IHD for speaking my mind.

Petey - "way" back when I started hanging out on IHD you were in fighting spirit and a great role model for us.
Being a caregiver can take wear you down.  I've been the patient more than a caregiver - so my hat has always been off to my caregivers!!!

Wellcome back Petey........

When I left for "D" at 5:30 am there was a very heavy frost on the pumpkins and the weather guy said snow flurries! It is now 2:30 and the sun is shining and it's 50. Another beautiful fall day.

The UC Davis transplant committee accepted me for further testing as a transplant recipient, after turning me down as a risk!  Could it be that the emails my friends and family bombarded them with helped?   My next positive will be when I qualify. :bandance; :bandance; :bandance; :bandance;
