I woke up about 7 and felt like crap, but Matthew was off today so I got to go back to bed. That was really nice.

Yesterday, when I got home from D, my gas pig was completely full, paid for courtesy of the State Emergency Relief Fund. $850 dollars I certainly didn't have. I'm feeling remarkably grateful today for the simple things, like the warm air blowing out of the vent at my feet as I scrub my dishes in the hot water flowing from the tap.
I spent several hours today with a friend who is fighting colon cancer. He's trying an alternative treatment next week, flying out to Nevada for one more try at seeing his 4 little kids grow up. He's down to a skeletal 165 pounds, and is fighting for every day he can get. I'm grateful for the chance to sit with him, to make him smile, and to be able to offer what he needs most right now - encouragement in the face of some long odds. He talks with me about things he can't say to some of his other friends and family, because, of course, I "get it."

Yay for dinner!
I got to have dinner with my husband today. Just hot dogs -- but since he started the new job, we haven't gotten to have dinner every night together like usual, so when we do eat together it is not taken for granted anymore. (For me anyway!)

I had a good day getting 7th graders ready to write a narrative. They knew what a narrative was, too! Hot damn for me!

Eliza (9) and Emma (6) spent the night and we are having a "pajama day". We have played games, working now on a puzzle, ate pizza----just hanging out together and going no where.
Good day
