Hello my name is Margret, I'm new to the site. Thought i would introduce myself. I'm a 35 yr old female currently on Home Dialysis for the second time. I was told at 15 that I had Kidney failure and at one point of my life I would be faced with Dialysis. having no idea on what they were talking about. i went on with life Tell i hit the age of 18 and at that point I found out what they were talking about. I was faced with watching my mom deal with going to Dialysis every other day for 5 years. Then her heart couldn't take anymore and gave out. So about 2 years later after losing her. I was faced with being put on Dialysis myself. I went to see the Dr one day and told hi i was filling very sick couldn't keep anything down, couldn't sleep. So at that point my Dr set me down and told me that we couldn't wait anymore. So he sent me over to the Dialysis unit. I was so upset. I felt like my world around me just fell in. I was thanking god at that point of my life for  giving me a great and wonderful man. Which was at my side. I was on Dialysis for about 6 months and was confronted  i was healthy to be able to be put on the Tranplant list. So I went through the testing and passed. About 6 more month later In got the call there was a kidney and I need to get up to the Hospital to be tested. I was tested and was a match. So about 15 hrs later In got my So needed kidney. Once again the man I love tell this day was at my side. So about 5 Hrs later I remember waking up, not knowing what was going on. But I do remember seeing the man I loved at my bed side and was so grateful for him. So shortly after my transplant we got Married. and we went on with life. and then once again we were faced with kidney failure. and at that point i did not wanna go back on Dialysis. But once again my loving husband was at my side. Telling me we can do this. It will all work out. So I started Dialysis while i was in the hospital got to go home a week later. shortly after was told we were moving. At that point I was so wanting to move but was scared at the same time, Cause as most of you know Moving while being on Dialysis can be a pain in the ass. Well we Finlay got moved and found a new unit. Once i got used to the new unit i asked them if they had training for Home Dialysis. They told me yes as long as you had a partner and at that piont ti know i did, But I had to go home and make sure. i asked my husband he asked me what we had to do to make this happen. And well we did. He was able to take three weeks off work to go back and forth for training. I can honestly say if you do this with your partner. I truly fill it make you stronger and closer than ever. Well thats my life!

Hello Margrett, I am new here too.  I just joined the site yesterday but I wanted to welcome you.  I too was 15 when I found out that I had kidney disease and would need dialysis one day.  I too got sick years later (20 years old) and I got my transplant five years later.  I too am now 35 and facing having to begin dialysis again and another wait for a transplant.

I'm so glad your boyfriend/now husband was able to handle your situation and stay by your side.  That is awesome!  He sounds like a very caring person.

Welcome.

Great love story.  Love stories and kidney transplant stories are my favorites! My youngest daughter, age 14, has been on dialysis for 15 months and my 18 year old daughter's kidneys are functioning at 18%.  It sounds like you have been there, too.  This group is wonderful, lots of information and great support!
