I can't remember if I read about them here or on another dialysis site.  Are any of you on in-center dialysis using machines that have "new" blood lines.  They have to totally reconfigure the front of the machine.  I am going to get the name etc tomorrow.  I was put on a machine yesterday with the new lines..I asked how the lines are affecting the patients...the tech "who I do trust" said I guess they are ok.  They are shorter and are considered a single line..tech said they are supposed to clean the blood better so KT/V is better.  They are working on changing all the machines.  Well, no problem, no alarms during dialysis.  Got off D on time, taped, weighed...whoops....  .6 Kilos under my dry weight and I crashed big time.  Had to sit an hour before I could leave..came home, crawled in the house, went to bed, felt like sh...., slept some, was washed out today, so I'm getting more info tomorrow and will weigh before needles come out just in case.  My dry weight is 92.5 and I generally give up more, down to 92.2 and feel fine, this was just enough to put me over the top I guess.  Anyone know about these???  I'm thinking baxter but just not sure.

The new lines on our machines are from MediSystem and the thought is that they are what cleaned me out so good I crashed...today used old lines and was fine.  Noone seems interested in this but just thought I'd let you know what I found out in case this happens to one of you.

G-Ma  :thx; for the information. When Len was on dialysis, they also tried some new tubing that ending up giving all kinds of machine errors. I think the clinics try different stuff to lower there costs. That's just my opinion.  :cuddle;

I was watching this thread for an answer, now I am curious. How can new lines clean you out better?

G-Ma:
In trying to find answers or at least information regarding your question about the new lines, all I could come up
with is the link below.  Read the entire article to the conclusion.  Let's see, how can I say this:  I feel as though I
do not entirely understand the machines yet to properly comment as I am not the one on dialysis (my s/o Ray is)
but I would definitely investigate as much as I can via the internet to get answers when an very interesting
question is put forth.  Next, I will ask Ray to ask one of his techs if they have changed lines or if they (fresinius)
have ever had any problems with the lines and if they affected the clearances.

In other words, I don't think I know enough to even know if the link is relevent to your question.  Anyways,
we need some tech support.  I know there are a few IHD members who are techs.  Or maybe even Nursewratchet.

Will let you know what Ray's tech had to say after he dialysizes on Sat 3/14.

I googled Medisystem blood line and it came up with Streamline and that appears to be what they are using now....they went to smaller dializers about 3 weeks ago and it appears some people cannot use those and now are switching to this new blood line that is supposed to make the KT/V better etc.   I had the old lines today and was fine so the Tech said when I have the new lines he won't figure in the rinseback..sure I'm a guini pig.

I love Guini Pigs...we used to raise some...the one we had longest was Rusty and if you walked in the door and didn't immediately stop and talk to him he would let everyone know.  Fun pets.
