2... Have a severe nut allergy... I can smell a peanut at twenty paces...

3... I have absailed down a one-hundred foot cliff face, in my wheelchair!...

4... I have never consumed alcohol...

5... I use a powered wheelchair that I call 'Flattery'... Because it gets me everywhere!...

6... I have been volunteering for two thirds of my life... One charity has had the 'pleasure' of my services for almost thirty years... I joined June 30th, 1979... Flipping Heck... If I killed someone, I wouldn't get that long!)...

7... I administer Mum's Aranesp injections... She's too chicken to do it herself!...

8... We have a total brat of a dog called Dougal... Mum thinks the sun shines out of his.... out of his... ahem... erm...EYES!... Get that filthy grin off you face... Which part of his anatomy did you think I was referring to???.... Says she while giving her halo a little polish!...

9... I am a very quiet, shy, retiring shrinking violet... Virtue personified....Yeah, right...And the pigs are refueled, serviced, and awaiting Air Traffic Control for take off...Hee Hee!!!... Halo slipping a bit!...

10... The thing I'm most proud of is being carer to my mum... I feel very privileged to be given this opportunity to do the very best I can for her... God knows she deserves the very best!...

Thank you, Monrein....

I think sometimes it's only a sense of humour that keeps me sane, although there are plenty who would dispute my definition of 'sane'....

Nice to meet you!...

Getting the heck out of town.

« Reply #34 on: March 14, 2009, 09:37:44 AM »

Ok, here's the mouse story:

Back in the old ages when I was a kid, little boys could not take a "DARE".  I had an older and bigger sister who not only "Dared" me, but it was a "DOUBLE DOG DARE".  I don't expect you young people to know the ramifications of a "DOUBLE DOG DARE" but ask around.

Luckily this is one of those Family Yore memories.

Getting the heck out of town.

« Reply #39 on: March 15, 2009, 08:24:00 AM »

You people have been so nice and so inspirational (for the most part).  I spent some time this morning thinking about what a good life I have had.  Sometimes the past can be debilitating, but at time like this is can also be comforting.  Therefore I’ve decided to list ten things that have made me happy just by living in the city of Houston.

1.   Mexican Food
2.   Going to the Houston Live Stock and Rodeo Show
3.   Being able to drive to Mexico on the weekends
4.   World Class Restaurants
5.   Going to the opera and stopping by the beer joint on the way home
6.   High Speed Car Chases (not as many on LA, but some really good ones)
7.   Blue Bell Ice Cream
8.   Bevo – well he’s usually in Austin but so was I (Hook Em Horns)
9.   It is most always warm weather (I lived in Wyoming a couple of years)
10.   Bubba Burgers (for the uninitiated they are Buffalo Burgers)

If I had 11 the next would be that here, it is OK to be boring…

Watch it!  If you mess with me, I’ll come up with more stupid lists!

what about living close to the Monument Inn and the Texas Battleship -
easy drive to Benno's in Galveston and eating almost on the water
and Rockets
and Cowboys football
and Texan A&M ( have a son on the team )
and Longhorns --- we were before bubba became an Aggie
and not going to the opera but still  having a beer joint on every corner --- 105 in Conroe
and Friday night football
and the Astrodome -- then not now
and the Woodlands  -- I live in Conroe in River Plantation
and being able to surf on Christmas

You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them.    I BELIEVE THIS TO BE SOOOOO TRUE!
