Tonight wil be Dave's first night on dialysis. We got home this afternoon after four days of training. Mostly took so long because his stomach would not cooperate and she was having to add heparin and cath care to try to get the blood clot and fibrons to break up, so tonight we shall start. The machine was a major no brainer if you can read you can do it and push a few buttons and follow instructions wheeeeee. So we'll see what tomorrow brings. Wednesday will be our first delivery from Baxter i'm rather worried because Baxter does not come up here so we'll be getting it from a courier service.

Good luck!  I just started at home on Friday. Dialyzing right now as a matter of fact. I did 2 weeks training for the NxStage. I've been on dialysis for 6 months and using needles for 4 - 6 weeks. Yes, it seems uncomplicated but I'll be worried for a while about alarms and troubleshooting etc. I suppose it's good to have a healthy concern about all that. Is this Dave's first night of dialysis in general? or first night doing home dialysis? How long did you train? |

first night of dialysis. we did a total of about 10 hours training I guess. I figured it was going to me more intense then it was just kinda hard on the brain the first time we went in, but it was also one on one just us and the PD nurse.

was a good night. Alarm rang around 3 this morning because Dave had rolled over and kinked his tube, otherwise all was awesome. I'm excited that hte first night went well to calm some of Dave's fears about it all.

so far so good. tonight is night 5 and Dave is doing really well with it. I normally hook him up and unhook him. tonight he had to do it himself because I had a meeting. I had him all set to the point of connect himself and hit go. He's getting more comfortable with it. we usually count on at least one alarm a night that he needs to roll over and unkink his line lol so I can live with that, espeically when it happens before i go to sleep so i don't hit the ceiling when it goes off holy cow it's LOUD!!!  He's finally accepted it as a part of life now and that makes me happy because he's not stressing so much about it. His sugars are staying nice and low, but his BP holy!!!! it's still pretty high. it was low but I'm thinking it's just the new stuff and the stress of it all so it should come back down soon. he's on two meds for it now hate to see more added. |

Hi,
My cycler machine was really lound too....until I turned down the volume. It only goes down so far. I just had to get a new machine. The 1st one started making this lound buzzing noise. Low and behold my new machine is also making the buzzing noise. When it gets too lound again...I'll trade it in again.

Logan is always kinking his tubing. He kinked it so much that he got a tear in it after 6 months on PD. that was scary but a fairly easy fix. I hope your nights continue to go well and may your alarms sound less frequently. |
