My son, Scotland, is my heartbeat.

I'm sure there are bits and pieces of answers to my question throughout this site. However, so that I am not confused...

How exactly does Northwest Kidney Center use the NxStage for nocturnal home hemo?

Is the only change/addition the purchase of a heparin pump? Does NW kidney pay for this or does the dialysis patient pay for the pump?

I am currently training with the NxStage Pureflow System One for short daily. When I am comfortable with the short daily, I plan on changing to nocturnal home. I have a feeling Davita may be willing to work with me on this and I want to educate them on what I would need for the NxStage in order to do nocturnal. I have also talked with NW Kidney and they will take me for nocturnal home if Davita won't.

Finally, how many here do nocturnal home on the NxStage? If there are existing threads on this that you can point me to, great.

thanks everyone,
Wendy R.

I do nocturnal through NKC. They'll supply you with everything e.g. chair, scale, BP cuff.

You use a different cartridge - 171 vs. 170 - and a heparin pump. NKC isn't using the pureflow, you'd be using boxes.

How many bags of dialysate do you use each night?

Why not use the pureflow?

That would be the total number on NxStage. I'm not sure how many are doing extended - my guess would be about a dozen. NKC also has people using the B Braun for three treatments a week schedules and some of them may be dialyzing over night. BTW In total NKC has about 5% of it's hemodialysis census on home hemo.
