Ok so the lady with all the kids.
She has mental problems this is clear by watching her.  She is unable to care for 14 children.  Most any family would be unable to do so.  I would quess half of the new crew of (8) children may have disability problems.  Which means mommy will get even more money to support these children.

Now even a functioning RICH family like Brad and Angelina shouldn't have 14 children even though they can afford a private nanny for each.

So do you have Child protective services step in?
How can one mother with no job pay for these kids.
Is this a form of childabuse?

I hate to say this but for US THE TAX payers who will be obligated to take care of these 14 children are better off if the kids were to stay with the mentalmom.
For if CPS does get involved the cost for us to raise her children will quadruple.  About $2000 a month for a foster family to take a child.  And this is for a healthy child.  One with disabilities i have no idea what they pay for that.

I truly would like to see the inside of her home.
This is a sad sad story.  Was this planned over a year ago?  Did she do this to make money, was the doctor in on it.

It is sad that i choose not to have children.  And i pay daily to raise so many other peoples children.

I think that would be a good idea to take the kids away from the mother, that way the womans mother can have her house back. However I think the mom wouldn't allow that even though she is frustrated with the situation the daughter has put her in. If they do take the kids away, sew and super glue her shut first!, then take the kids away. That way there is less of a chance of her having kids, but then put her on some sort of warning system or base for adoption agencies/ mMedicaid, and gov't help.

Although there is no law against having as many children as you want, this is a morality issue that effects everyone different. I can not imagine having 14 children, but a lot of families were larger back before the "pill" and those children today are for the most part, our middle to older aged adults. They are the generation that helped build Americas infrastructure.  So in my own opinion the jury is still out, however with the economy and it's instability I can not condone burdening our Tax payers to take care of those children, whose parent has no apparent way to provide for these children.

I'm pretty sure the doctor was in on it.  He's now being investigated not only for the octuplets, but for implanting 4 embryos into a 49 year old woman.  Mentalmom (I like that title) has been accused of attempting to make herself look more like Angelina Jolie.  Pictures of her from time back show she had much thinner lips at that time, so she must have plumped them up.  Angelina says the whole thing "creeps her out."  The whole thing is a scam of major proportions!

My understanding is 3 of her current children are considered disabled and she collects 1400 a month.

Most likely they are collecting for some type of learning disability and not actual health problems.

I disagree that they let parents with children with learning disabilities collect SSI.  Such stuff is not life threatening and as such it should be up to the parents to raise that child to 18.  Once at 18 and if they are unable to work, let them collect SSI then. 


In any case it would seem to me the fertility clinic acted in a irresponsible matter.  The State should push that since the clinic acted with such disregard that they are liable to pay to raise these children and not the State.

you can't quilify for ssi with just a learning disibality

 When I say learning disability I refer to those that are mentally disabled.  Downs syndrome, mental retardation.

It falls under non medical rules.

"If your child’s condition(s) results in “marked and severe functional limitations” for at least 12 continuous months, we will find that your child is disabled."-Social Security Administration

One has autism, one has ADHD and one is "showing some characteristics" of autism. 

I didn't know a kid who has ADHD could collect SSI.

I'd hate to be the one who would decide to take the kids away from their family, I don't think I could do it. I do think the Doctor should be  responsible for helping to pay for childcare, as he should have known better, and, is  in my eyes, a "Father" of sorts. I feel he should be able to continue to work as a Doctor, only to be able to support these children, and get them the best possible care and schooling as his punishment.  Also, if any of the children turn out mentally disabled, I think he should be sued for doing what he did, and if he loses his Doctors license, make him go flip burgers and continue to pay support. I pray the kids will all be healthy, with strong minds and bodies.

who donated the sperm or was it from a bank of stored sperm
maybe the fertility doc should help pay
he knew the mother's circumstances
did you see the photos of her small three bedroom home that is her mom's home not really her home
what mother could work with 14 children---- the day care alone would be too much
the diaphers alone - she will need a bank loan

The first six kids were from the same donor.  Out of the six, three have disabilities.  Yet the next group of kids is also from the same donor.  Makes one wonder why one would pick the same donor if 50% were having disabilities.   Older men who father children have a higher risk of the children having problems.  I wonder if the good doctor is more than just the doctor? 

It seems weird that someone with six kids, no job, living at home, lives off of the childrens payments and welfare is somehow able to afford to go to a fertility clinic and get implanted with eggs for 8 more?

With multiple births, disabilities often result from low birth weight and prematurity rather than being associated with genetic abnormalities.  It's still a crazy situation on so many levels  that I can't understand what anyone involved was thinking.  The only sure thing is that no one was apparently thinking at all.

The news today said they were 10 months behind in their mortgage payments.  What a mess this whole situation is.  Those sweet little kids are caught in the middle of a mess made by adults.

It appears from the latest news reports that this whack job has gotten her wish.  She's a celebrity!  Talk shows buying her story, paparazzi following her and seeing her on the news every day.  That's what she was looking for and as long as people hand her money for being a bit of kilter she will probably do it again.

Hell, I have been off kilter for years and I don't see Dr Phil offerin me any cash!!
