Hi all,
I am 39 years old, diagnosed last year with CKD.  Not on dialysis yet. If I don't transplant soon, I will need to make a decision as to dialysis.  Kidney function is at 17%.  I have four donors who are willing to give me a bean, but my antibodies are too high.  I will reject any kidney. Have been doing an infusion process called IVIg to bring them down.  No luck with my donors as yet.

Hey Vandie, Welcome.  Make sure you know all your options before you begin dialysis such as  CCPD and CAPD,  i was on hemo for 3 years and now i am doing CCPD and i find it to be alot better, diet and fluid are not AS restricted, but there still are limits ;)   Hope to hear from you again soon...

Good luck and that is good advice about comparing and becoming knowledgeable about all your options! Hope you don't have to go on dialysis but the more someone knows the better. I am also pre-dialysis. I have PKD.

Greetings, Vandie, and welcome to our community.  This is just the place for you.  Here you can see what others have gone through, and get answers to some of your questions.  I do wish that everything works out well for you and the transplant.   We have a great section here concerning transplants, so have a look.  Welcome again, and I look forward to hearing lots from you.

Vandie, good luck with your IVIg treatments.  Welcome to our site.  There is a section on transplants.  Remember, a transplant is not a cure.  It is just another form of treatment for CKD.

Question, what is IVIg ?

IVIg is Intra Venous Immune Globulin, it's a pooling of thousands of people's plasma.  It is cleaned and then then tranfused into me.  The end goal is to tame my immune system so that I can accept a donor kidney.  It seems to have worked.  I found out the other day that two of my donors are a match. ;D
