Southern Maryland Snow Pictures

It is so pretty and peaceful.

First one is our neighborhood and the second my son just sent me.

We had a period where it had slowed down and then it has started to put it down pretty good again.

I'll let you know how the sausage balls are.

But really those pictures are beautiful.  I would love to wake up to a morning like that.  As of right now at 10:28 am it is like 60 -65 degrees right now and sunny.  Its all warm and pretty out side. And I love it.  But I have never woken up to a morning like that. Its SO PRETTY!

pelagia, it started this morning around 7 and continue until about 2. Now we are getting sheet and they are calling for freezing rain tonight with chance of snow on top of that. The fire, rescue and police have really been busy here today.

twirl, we have a very large deck where the doggie door is. There is a lot of roof overhang so if I don't get the deck shoveled they run out real fast and do their business and come back in wanting the snow picked off their feet. They are funning little dogs. If the weather really gets bad, we have a walk in shower off the master bedroom and Willie will go in there and do his business. Winnie will pace all over the house and if we let her in the garage she will do her business there. We have almost 1/4 of an acre of fenced in back yard (6 foot privacy fence) and we keep the gates locked with padlocks. We don't take any chances with them. Now, I could tell you a story about our bassett hound Sydney and a horrible snow storm where she got out the front door. I'll save that for another time but thanks for worrying about my babies. You are a sweetie. We know have ice covering everything and Len wants to get the generator set up because he thinks we are going to lose power. Just how I want to spend the evening.

Keep the pups close. I have found mine to be good little heating pads! I am sure the feeling is mutual.

We're in the middle of a snowstorm here. It's been snowing since last night. We got about 3-4 inches until it tapered off for the most part for a bit today, but it's now sleeting and we're supposed to get another 6-8 inches by noon tomorrow.

Here is a picture from yesterday. We had ice on top of the snow and everything just glistened. It took me a while to clean off vehicles and was too cold. Yuk.

Sure glad someone else is getting the snow.   We had so much of it here in Wisconsin and now we are finally getting a break.  It sure is beautiful when the ice and snow coat the branches.

 My dogs love the snow.  Of course they are a little bit bigger than yours.  I have an English Cocker and a Siberian Husky.  The Siberian of course wants to live outside this time of the year, but lol in the summer she is out and right back in.

sorry it took me so long twirl. Our snow is gone for now (maybe some this weekend). On with the Sydney story. This took place in 1999 and I still remember it, like it was yesterday. Our neighborhood is spread out and we have lots of small side streets and long driveways (this is just to set the story up). We got pretty bad back to back snowstorms, we probably had like 18 inches on the ground and schools and lots of other places were closed. Len got our son Billy up so they could shovel the driveway (we are a little more then 75 feet off the road) so I knew it was going to take them awhile. When they got the porch and the sidewalk cleaned off, I let Sydney out. She listened to Billy (she was his dog) really good and I knew she wouldn't go too far. It took a long time to clear off where the driveway and the street met because the snow plow drivers just kept piling it up. I looked out a few times and Syd was just sitting there watching, she was just a good dog. Well, I fixed the guys some hot chocolate and went to take it outside. I asked Billy were Syd was and he freaked out because she was no where to be seen. We could she where she had walked on the side of the street so I came in and got my boots and a heavy jacket to start the search. Where we came to a cross street, Billy went one way and I went the other. I asked every person I saw walking or attempting to drive (I'm sure Billy did too). Up and down driveways looking for big paw prints, nothing, about 3 streets from us here comes Len (he had a Triumph Spitfire at the time, little 2 seater), driving through snow that brushed the bottom of the car. I kept walking toward the park that we always took her to. So Len meets the plow driver and asked if he had seen Syd and the guy said yes, a couple of streets over that he had only made one pass and he said she was walking down the middle with her nose to the ground (just like a basset hound). It was well over an hour and I was freezing and my legs hurt like a son of a bitch from going up and down hills, damn dog anyway. I'm heading down the last hill to the park when I see Len coming in his little car, thank God I thought at the time, I could at least get a ride. He pulled up beside me and sitting in the passenger seat like a cat that ate a canary was Syd. She got to ride home in a car she was not allowed in normally and Billy and I got to walk. Len delivered Syd home and went to look for Billy, got him and took him home and honest to goodness, when he came to get me I was only 2 driveways away from home. I was so mad at Sydney that for the longest time she never went out front without her leash on. I still miss those sad eyes and silky ears, she was just such a sweetheart.
