Nxstage in the uk ????

Has anyone heard of nxstage being used in the uk,

Im not even on haemo at the moment(apd) but after reading epomans journey over to nxstage it would be comforting to know that the Nhs plans to impliment it in the future.

so are there any english folk hear who have heard of it being used in the Uk, or does anyone have any idea who you would write to in england to get the Nhs to take a look at the Nxstage machine.

Yeah sorry, it's not available yet in the UK, currently they are only in 48 of the 50 states in the USA, but as soon as it is I will post and about it here and on http://www.ilovenxstage.com in the news section. NxStage does not have the infrastructure in place yet to go global but give them time, they will.

I have heard that the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead have a few NXStage machines on a trial basis. This is good news for people in the UK.

I'm sure the trial will go well and hopefully other NHS Trusts will be in a position to offer the machine.

I have not been able to find them anywhere in South Carolina.     Either that should be 47 out of 50, or they're keeping the SC locations a secret.

There is home haemodialysis in the UK but I'm not sure what machines they use.  I think they might be Baxters as well.  It is something we've talked about with my son's consultant because he thinks he would be a good candidate for home haemodialysis if PD is no longer an option (which is looking probable at the moment).

I believe they are just starting to look seriously at this machine but at the moment it is not being used and each unit has a different home set up. Ours uses really old machines but also there is an option to do daily dialysis but can't remember what the machine is but it isn't nxstage.

Ian's got to go to the renal unit tomorrow so I'll get him to find out which home dialysis units they use.

I am currently on APD, but all my levels are pretty crap!! The unit has been trying to get back to Haemo for ages now, but I'm not going. I Hate It!!  I Hate It!! I Hate IT!! - get my drift the unit is in the process of changing from Baxter's to Fresenis and that goes for home dialysis too. If I do eventually have to go back I would consider doing it at home
I have been reading up on NxStage and as far as Haemo goes, it sounds pretty cool!!
During the summer moths I escape Every weekend to the hills of Royal Deeside, I have a stattic caravan in a beautiful site and am able to take my APD Machine with me, and it looks like I would be able to do this with NxStage! also if I'm not mistaken it is possible to use the machine through night
Oh I hope it comes to the UK before I have to go back to Heamo kicking and screeming

So, please keep us Brits up to date with any news on NxStage UK. I'm will to be a Ginny-pig for them

P.S when I did a spell-check on Fresinis, which I'm pretty sure is wrong. My spell checker gave me the option to change it to "foreskins" don't think thats right either Oh!! wait a minute maybe they got it bang-on.

The odd rumour about trusts getting NxStage in the UK seemes to be just that for the moment, though there is interest in the machine. There seems to be a trend in the UK to change old machines with new machines that run HDF instead of HD and that is why the Fresenius is being used in most centres.
