I'm just so happy and excited, I had to share! My cousin (my Dad's sister's daughter) just contacted me. She told me that she and my uncle found a box of my Dad's stuff. In it, they found the old, early 1800's family bible that has a handwritten family geneology in it, as well as his wedding ring with inscription!!! She's going to send me them!!!

My Dad died in 2000 from Lou Gehrig's Disease. He and my Mom had been divorced for almost 10 years at that point, and he was living with a friend who was taking care of him because he needed help. His friend was not a fan of our family for some reason, and we no longer had contact with her after he died. Over time, his stuff went to his father, then when he died, I never knew where it all went. I had never received anything of his, thus the only thing I've had to remember him by, was a few pictures. I can't wait to get the stuff!

That is so exciting Paddbear and you have every right to be happy.  Having things that belonged to your parents is so precious.  When you get the ring you should wear it on a chain around your neck. My husband has huge fingers and his wedding ring fits around my bit toe.  Just a thought if your Dad had big hands! x

That's exactly what I planned to do with it!

That's great to be able to come across those belongings of your Dad's.

I can't believe how much I cherish this little piece of paper that my Mom and Dad filled out when they eloped to Chicago to get married. My Mom was only seventeen. Little things mean so much more after you have lost both of your parents.

What a wonderful find!  I am so happy for you as I can hear the joy from you by your post!  I hope it brings you some peace to have something from him personally.  What a cool Bible too!  Wonder if he wrote in the margins like I do.  I doubt they did that on the Word back then, but wouldn't that be cool?  Blessings!
