So today I called my Doctors office because I am due for my birth control shot. Well big surprise I end up talking to some lady who I have never talked to before and well apparently when I was in the hospital for Pneumonia back in September when I received my depo shot the dumb jerks didnt check yes that I got it! Well now shes telling me blah blah bah u have to wait two weeks to have sex and then come in for a pregnancy test which i know is a lie because I always get tested for pregnancy before I get the shot whether I have had sex within two weeks or not! They cannot just take my word for it that would be irresponsible of them. So now I'm pissed because I have my period which means I am due for my shot and well my boyfriend and I are staying at a hotel on new years eve and I am wondering whether or not I should buy a Plan B pill to take with me in case the condom were to break or something>? Ok I know this is a lot of private information but this is crap and I am mad!

Karen I think you should do whatever makes YOU (and your bf) feel most comfortable and secure. If that means a "plan B" pill (which I assume is like the morning after pill?) then sure... go ahead as I live by the mantra that it's always better to be safe than sorry I reckon.

Have you considered getting a rod inserted? I was listening to a health program the other week and they were talking about how doctors really are moving away from DP shots in favour of rod insertion - since they last for 3 years and deliver a measured dose, and you don't have to worry about going back every 3 months for a shot. Just a thought :)

I hope the hotel is awesome and you both celebrate new year's in style!!!  :bandance;

Karen,

I wouldn't know. My man's sterile, so I don't have to use anything. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

That's what I have (all these plans) when I go to the bar. None of them work though...Boxman

I'm with Richard - it's time to consider an IUD.  The shots sound like a big hassle.
