My two beautifull granddaughters

WWW
« on: December 01, 2008, 06:16:49 PM »

Hi,
I just found this site last night and had to admit that I cried reading through some of the posts. Since I did not know about this site while we were training, I did my training journal at: http://willowtreewren.livejournal.com/

My journaling had two purposes. The first was to try to give "outsiders" an understanding of how complicated the process is. Secondly, I wanted to document tips that we had learned so that they could be shared with others. I wish I had known about this site at the beginning.

Most of the posts are NxStage dialysis related, with a few that are just normal stuff.

I am the partner for my husband's dialysis. He began in-center dialysis in June of this year and transferred to NxStage in August. His sister has been on NxStage for about 2 years. They both have PKD, as does our 34 year old daughter. Unfortunately, her disease affects her liver, too. We are rooting for a breakthrough in time to help her.

I'm looking forward to the community here.

Welcome to our community, Aleta!!  It is really great that you finally found us.  We have been waiting for you!!   I appreciate it very much when they are those that join us because of their love and concern for a loved one.  There is quite a group of caregivers, partners and loved one here.  You must realize that this is more than just a forum - it's a family  :grouphug; and you are now a family member.  the founder of this website, Epoman, was an advocate for NxStage.  Sorry you didn't get to meet him, but his posts here will make him very alive to you!
There is lots going on here - information, support, and even fun!  So keep reading, and above all, keep posting!

Hello, willowtree!  I'm a caregiver, too (NxStage -- 16 months now! -- to my husband Marvin).  Glad you found us.  Come often and share much.

 :welcomesign;  Glad you joined us.  You made a wonderful introduction.  Your family has had more than their share of worries.  I pray, also, that a breakthrough will be made.  We live with a lot of hope on this site.   We love caregivers.  They are heros in our lives.  Looking forward to hearing more of your story.   :grouphug;
