Hi there,

I just wanted to post quickly to introduce myself, per the community guidelines. I tried to register for this site over the summer a few times but was having trouble registering. At the time I was making plans with my boyfriend, who is on dialysis, to travel cross-country with his NxStage machine and he was going to fly back (I was moving to the East Coast). I found reading the forums very useful, but wish I could have asked some questions of my own! At any rate, I am glad to be able to become a member now. Since the summer, we did our road trip with no problems at all -- we checked into hotels and dialyzed every day. He flew back with a few hassles but no major problems or extra expenses. He also came back to visit me for a week and checked the machine on the plane both ways.

He and I have broken up since the last visit, but we are still friends and I care about him deeply. I decided to try and register again for the forums the other night when I found out he was in the hospital. He is probably going to be discharged tomorrow or the next day, so all is well. I have appreciated this site as a resource and look forward to continuing to use it.

Rebecca

(edited to correct spelling in the title! don't want to make a bad first impression!) :)

:welcomesign; Rebecca, we are glad you finally were able to log in.  I think you will have lots to share with us, especially those who want to do nxstage and travel with it.   We love caregivers or anyone who wants to know more about this disease and dialysis.  You must have a very caring heart, especially to stay good friends now.  How is he doing now?  Please post often.  This is a really strong, loving group who truly care about each other.  So, jump in and enjoy!

Thanks for correcting the spelling  :2thumbsup;  That was a pet peeve of the founder of the site!!

G'day Rebecca! I'm sorry you broke up with your bf, but it sounds like you are such a supportive and caring person to come back here and want to share even after that is very special. Specially since I'm sure reading stuff on here would remind you of the less fun aspects of your relationship I'm sure.. though doing the cross country thing is amazing and testiment to both of you wanting to LIVE LIFE and get on with it which is I think a cornerstone of this site and the community here. Thanks for coming back and registering(without problem!) and I'm sure you'll have a lot to add from your particular point of view. Your ex-bf is very lucky to have you on his side - even if things didn't work out between you!!

It's great to hear your story about traveling with NxStage.  I am jealous because they are not available in Canada.  Please stay in touch.

Rebecca... run for your life!  I'm kidding in a way but in a big way I'm serious.  It would be really nice of you to be friends with this guy.  That would be great of you.  I'm glad you want to learn more about dialysis.

Glad you are finally able to get on the site.  It must have been very frustrating.  :banghead;   It took me awhile to figure things out around here.  :)
