I like the idea of having Las Vegas established as a get together spot in October  and then wandering the other one around the country.  Texas is good because the last wandering get together was in Chicago.  Then the following year somewhere. "eastish"

I'm thinking Vegas each year in October and every other meeting alternate places and I would love to do Georgia, or one of the Carolina's and maybe even New York. However we can only do so much in a year. I wouldn't mind doing the Pasadena CA either. We may not be able to make every trip but at least once a year we get a chance to visit and get different members involved.

I like the California idea always  wanted to take a convertible car on Highway 1along the mountain side, and the only place I have been out east was PA so anywhere else would be good. As long as I have the money, I'll come. I'd like to go where the most people will be.

I will always be partial to Las Vegas.  It was were the dream became a reality.  Like Alene,  I think it is a cheap place to get to and the hotel is priced well.  But, I have always loved Vegas and we have been going there for 30 years.  Never get tired of it.  In fact, El Cortez gave us a coupon for two free nights in December and I think we will use it.  My husband wants to go again.

BUT, I loved Chicago.  We spent lots of time together.  It was fun going to the breakfast room and meeting up with everyone.  Just sitting and talking--we really didn't need any entertainment.  We had Sluff!  :rofl;

But there are so many good places to visit.  San Antonio is a great place. The River Walk would be a good place to spend time.  If we ever try for the East Coast, Mrytle Beach is a good location.  Lots of great restaurants, tons of hotels, and lots to do.  Not a bad drive from Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Tennesee, and of course the Carolinas. (Petey would like this location!)  Maybe in '10.  It is great to have these get togethers to look forward to.   :2thumbsup;

I like the idea of keeping Las Vegas as the October meet, and another time of the year for any of the other alternatives.  Las Vegas is the place where our Vegas Princess Goofynina lit the place up!

I totally agree, Bajanne.  Even though I never personally met Goofynina I, along with others, felt her spirit with us in Vegas!

My husband will come next time for sure!

I would absolutely flip if we all met in San Antonio.  :cheer:  We could even plan a day trip from there to Austin (I live 20 miles north of Austin). Austin is more metro, but there is no lack of things to do there. There are so many things to do in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Kelly has voiced many of them and they are all great. We might also consider LBJ ranch which is a day trip event. It is the ranch on which President Johnson and his lovely wife lived for many years. The original house and land are there and they have bus tours during the day that take you all over the ranch and point out various interesting things and some historical items as well. I went many years ago and it was great. If we meet in May there may still be wildflowers out and Lady Bird Johnson opened a Wildflower Center where the acreage is dedicated to all the different varieties of wildflowers that bloom in Texas. It is beautiful in the Spring/Summer.

Las Vegas as an annual meeting place sounds exciting. I haven't been there since I was a child. I have never in my life gambled and it sounds kind of exciting although I am not much of a risk taker. If the price is right I would definitely be there as well !  I haven't taken a trip in years and it would be so good to meet everyone and do things with like-minded people.  :yahoo;

I seem to have a lot to say on this subject!  Newer members---the best thing I have done for myself during this  journey, was to meet with members from here.  I always put my family first, never gone on a trip without everyone (even though my husband and his brother go on a getaway every year together).  I got selfish and went to the first meet up in Vegas last year.  I am hooked!  Yes, my name is Paris and I am addicted to IHD!!   :rofl;   Sometimes we need to do things for ourselves, and even though this could be money you wouldn't normally spend, it is worth more than therapy, counseling, etc.   I am a big advocate for going to the meetups.

Graftgurl,  I am looking forward to meeting you at the next get together  :cuddle;

Atlantic City NJ has great casinos.  And beautiful beachs and is very close to NYC and Philadelphia.

Just sayin.

Vegas is Ok.  But so darn hot.
it was mentioned the Carrabean.  :-)
Many all inclusive resorts out there where food drinkts and airafre is all included. (yes even booze)
The bigger the group the less expensive it is.

The Cruise would actually be a good idea, Rerun even if we pay for it. I bet Cap'n Sluff would go for it.
