I'm in Newfoundland , Canada. We have a lot of "unique words". Anyone know what a "sleveen" is? or a "yaffle"??

A sleveen is a sly, untrustworthy person.
A yaffle is a European green woodpecker.

For those in the Northern Hemisphere what do you call some of the features of the night sky? I think it varies but it might be by language. What would you call this?

Big Dipper!
That's what we call it in the States ... I think in German it is the big wagon. What do you Brits call it? In Oz are there many named constellations? Seems like most of the night sky names came from the Romans, who got to to name the features of the Southern sky?

The Plough or the big dipper. What is the sidewalk called in Britain?

footpath
Sometimes called footpath but more often refered to as the 'pavement'. As I recall but not quite sure, do Americans call the road 'the pavement'?
