Hello everyone!  I am a new member here and I have a question.  I have monthly labs done and I just learned today how to check my lab results online.  My BUN usually runs around 15.  My September labs show a jump to 26, and my October labs are at 23.  My creatinine was 1.3 and 1.4.  Should I be concerned?  My transplant nurse does not seem to be - but I panic about my labs!  I stay well hydrated, so I do not think that is the cause.  Can someone ease my mind??!!  Does anyone have any ideas??

Thank You all so much!!

:welcomesign; Barbara. I'm sure one of the moderators will move this to the introduction section but for your question I found these on-line from a Neph site. Good luck and you have found one great group. We have loads of information and lots of support.  :cuddle;

An elevated BUN can be due to many reasons. Some of the common causes are:
1. Dehydration
2. Steroid therapy
3. Blood in the intestines
4. High protein intake in diet
5. Congestive heart failure

I recently asked my nephrologist what numbers should I panic about. He said as long as creatinine stays stable, not to worry.
Mine flucuates between 1.0-1.4. Like you, I keep a close eye on my labs. I ended up in the hospital for 4 days because no one was monitoring my labs.

Welcome to this wonderful family! :waving;
