Pervert nurse is struck offOct 19 2008 by Andrew Dagnell, Wales On Sunday
A SLEAZY nurse has been struck off for making explicit comments to a patient and touching up a colleague.
Randolph Tan, 44, from Llanharan, near Pontyclun, appeared before the Nursing and Midwifery Council after complaints about dodgy behaviour at the dialysis unit of Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales.
The female nurse – known as Nurse A for legal reasons – said he plagued her with comments about her and her husband’s sex life.
She said Tan, originally from the Philippines, asked her: “Are you getting enough sex?” and “Is your husband good enough?”.
Then in February 2006, in front of patients, Tan approached her while she worked, put his arms around her neck, pulled his body close to hers and rubbed his mouth on her cheek as he spoke.
She pushed Tan away, but he didn’t take the hint and started thrusting his groin at her later when she wanted some keys.
Two days later, a woman, known as Patient A, checked in for dialysis treatment.
She was recovering from a cold and her nose was red and blistered.
The shocked patient said: “He said words to the effect of: ‘Did you do it while you were having sex with your husband?’ and: ‘Did your husband bite it?’
“It was done in a way that only we could hear. He just thought it was very funny.”
Tan was told not to discuss the matter while it was investigated.
But he confronted Patient A the next month and tried to get her to withdraw the complaint.
The patient said: “He said that nobody understood him and that his career was on the line.
“I told him I thought he was well out of order. He started crying – it was very intimidating because he was just there.”
Tan broke down in tears as he was banned from working as a nurse and said he would return to the Philippines.
