I would like to let everyone know bout the kidney walk that my support group has got started we got approved. That is why i have not been on line in a while.I am also helpping a young man that has no where to stay, he is a migrant worker he is staying in a camp wit no heat or electric, and no food. So I'm taking him around trying to get his paper work rite. Now just imagine startong dialysis witout any family, friends or a place to stay.I guess this is why i started this group to help others

Thank you, Keith, for helping this man. I can't imagine kidney failure alone, with no safe place to lay his head. Please let us know how he does.

Good for you Keith. I wish you the best of luck in all your efforts to help other patients. I'm sure your involvement means a lot to this young man and it feels good to help others when we can.

Update. The man in question now has a roof over his head it's not much but at least he won't be out in the cold. The members of my support group came through in a great way, he has an electric heater ,a small fridge,an something to cook on. i was able to get him like over 400 dollars he has sent off for his birth cert. SS. card. Now he's wait for those things so that he can open a bank account and try and get on the best he can for now and he also is coming over every now and then just to talk.

Kudos to you, Keith. The need for more renal support groups is great. That's why when AAKP disbanded all their chapters my friend and I formed a partnership called The Kidney Beings (so we could accept checks), in order to keep our support group going. This board is a great support group for those who don't have a kidney community support group they can attend in person.

Thanks to everyone. But i have some bad news the young man in question had to be taking to the hospital today right after his treatment. The doctors think that it's his liver failing. I was up at the hospital with him, i had to take him because he didn't want to go by him self so i took him to the ER, and sat with him until maybe an hour ago. They admitted him i told me thank you and to go home and if i could come back tomorrow and just sit with him and i of course said yes.I never in my life time thought that i would ever see anyone go through so much and still manage a smile. This is something that i can't do and yet i find myself to the point that I'm ready to cry cause i know that this man is going to pass in afew months and the fact that he is @ peace with this and is basically looking death in the face with a smile and not worried about it.He gave me his brothers name and possible number that is in North Carolina, i've been trying since i got the number. He hasn't talked to this brother in over 12years.I just thought that i would update everyone

I can just imagine the comfort you are to him - to have someone with you who cares enough to stay with you at a time like this. I am sure it is your care and concern that is helping him to smile. You just keep on keeping on. You are doing a great job.
