Hi all, I had a text earlier from Lucinda who has arrived A-OK in italy! Tired after a long 24 hours of flying but she still managed to run right out and buy new shoes!!! LOL She says she is already in love with the place. Not sure when she can get online to post so said I'd post this for her :)

You would have to be there in Italy with her to have a pizza on you!   :rofl;

Quick update from Lucinda :) She doesn't have the right leads for her computer but is trying to get them. I told her to go enjoy Italy with hubby rather than worry about logging in! She can log in anytime when she's home! LOL. Anyway she definitely said to say hi to everyone (and yes, I passed on Joe's pizza suggestion :) )

Hi Everyone.....sorry I haven't been in contact but even after spending hours finding the right leads the reception is absolutely atrocious over here so going to get this off as fast as I can.  I am currently in Florence and I climbed up 498 steps today to get into the bell tower at the cathedral.  Thought I was going to have cardiac arrest.  I have been breaking my diet really, really badly.  Pizza, pasta and lots of Gelato but I think I am walking it off pretty much every day.  We leave for Bologna tomorrow and the food there is supposed to be terrific.  I am in love with Rome.  I think it is the most amazing city.  The buildings are all extraordinary.  Loved the colloseum....it was superb.  Have bought eight pairs of shoes, two leather jackets, really weird jewellery, leather baseball cups with silver studs.  I bought these brilliant boots and I think the whole look would be great on Sluff's bike!!!!  I heard from Kickstart just before I left and she had rehomed two of her dogs and was feeling very down about it.  Depending on my accessibility here I will send her a PM and see how she is going.  I haven't read many of the posts due to the lack of access but I am going to try and find out if the holiday gift list is out.  Want to know who I got so I can buy them something from over here.  Anyhow, access is supposed to be better in Bologna so I will try and spend more time from there.  We were getting a train to Bologna which is only a 40 minute trip but there is a strike tomorrow and no trains or buses.  Getting a driver which is a pretty expensive way to go but the only way to get there.

Anyhow, I will try and get this off before I am kicked off from this end.  Love to you all.  Thanks RichardM for keeping everyone up to date.

Glad you are having a great time! Sounds wonderful over there, have fun for me, as I know that is one place I will probably never get to see in this lifetime. Good to hear from you, as I said, please enjoy for me. Your "old" buddy Joe  ;D

Hi everyone.  Well, I am now in Portofino and it is absolutely superb but ridiculously expensive.  A coffee in our hotel cost around 12 Euros which is about Australian $24.00. Glad I don't drink coffee!!!  A small pasta dish is about 40 Euros.  We are heading down to the village tomorrow but have been told it is not much cheaper down there.  As for the shoes.....I have had to buy another suitcase to get them home.  This is going to sound disgusting but they are absolutely gorgeous.  Black thigh-high boots.  Everyone is wearing them over here but I have a feeling I am going to look a little out of place in Sydney.  They are in the most devine black kid leather.  One thing that is very cheap over here is leather.  Bags, shoes and jackets are really reasonable and the leather is superb.

Yes......I have seen the sites as well as the shops.  I love the history in Rome.  I am going to do another tour of the Vatican when I go back in a week or so.  We leave for Milan tomorrow which is a bit scary.  Best shopping in the world.  The food in Bologna was absolutely superb but the best pasta was the one I had here at the hotel last night.  It was called "Spagetti alla Elizabeth Taylor" as she used to order it when she came to this hotel. It was just done with basil and four different kinds of tomatoes - I know - tomatoes are a sin but I just couldn't resist just once.  If I drop dead, at least I am in heaven!!!

Moving every couple of days is actually more tiring than I thought but it is still fun.  I am not going sightseeing today.  Just going to sit out by the pool for the day.  We have the most sensational view of Portofino from our room.  Anyhow, must sign off now as the connection here keeps dropping in and out.  I'll pop back in in a couple of days.  Love  to you all.

PS..... Hey RichardMel.  If you have been texting me at all, I can't use my mobile at the moment.  I left my charger in Bologna and won't have it back until I get to Milan tomorrow so sorry if I have inadvertently been ignoring you.  xxxxx

lol no Lucinda.. thought I'd give you a break from my texting...

enjoy your time over there it sounds sensational but... 12 euro for a coffee??? holy crap I'd be glad to be on fluid restrictions with those sorts of prices!! You'd have to do better than that...

My co-worker just came back from italy and he said a coffee would cost him around 1 euro 50 or so in the parts he was in.

So glad you're enjoying yourselves! Darn I'd love to be out by that pool too... got a spare sunlounge for me?!?!?

Sounds like the perfect trip  :2thumbsup;

Here's a youtube clip from an Italian comedy show where an Italian celebrity (according to the title) is wearing thigh high black boots.  They sure do look good on her!

Hey everyone....I am now in Venice.  WOW!!! That is about all I can say. I love it here.  I went crazy at the sales in Milan.  Mad all the excuses under  the sun to buy up big...never going to be there again.  I reckon customs will stop me on the way in and think I cam a commercial buyer with all the shoes I have bought.  I think the excess baggage is going to be a bit scary.  I will organise the photos when I get home Bajanne.  (I have put it in another thread but I am sorry to hear about your graft.  Don't blame you for being furious) Communication over here are not the best and I need my very own, and incredibly gorgeous, cyber geek (RichardMel of course) to help me post them properly otherwise Sluff will have Kit's bat out :Kit n Stik;

Anyhow, all the Murano glass over here is superb.  We go back to Rome tomorrow and then to Naples and then home.  I will be back on Saturday.  It is very sad girls but George Clooney has been very evasive.  Evidently, according to all kinds of local gossip, he was in Portofino while we were there but I sadly did not see him. Portofino is devine.  I didn't bring an Epo shot with me and I am just starting to feel a little tired now but that could also have something to do with the fact we are walking miles each day and climbing thousands of stairs in bell towers and the like.  We are about to head downstairs to Cafe Florian.  Our hotel is right on St Mark's Square.  I am in a bit of trouble with hubby because (as all you dog lovers will understand) I am missing my dogs and I have to try and speak to any hound that walks past me.  The dogs are very snooty around this neck of the woods....not that friendly at all.  They snarl more than they wag their tales and they all dress in designer outfits and sunglasses.  Very Beverley Hills Chihauhua but not nearly as nice!!!

Everything over here is incredibly expensive especially in Milan.  Everything is double the Australian dollar before you even start.  To watch a movie in your room is about 25 Euro and a car to the train station from the hotel - five minutes away - was around 90 Euro.  Even with all our luggage we opted for a normal taxi - 10 Euros.  Moving every couple of days is getting a bit exhausting as well but it has been great to see everything.  We haven't done the Vatican tour yet so we are doing that tomorrow afternoon for three hours.  Anyhow, getting hassled to get going.  I will try and pop in later otherwise I will be back on Saturday. xxxx

Fantastic to hear from you Lucinda... I was just thinking today that hadn't seen a post from you in a bit (or a text... did you get your charger back? :) ) so was wondering.

Never say never in terms of coming back!! I still have hopes to return to parts of the US, Asia and Europe. You NEVER know!!!! :) :) :) :)

Maybe you should send some of your shoes and stuff back seperately like freight etc... it might even be a tad cheaper and easy to deal with when flying home!!

Look forward to hearing from you soon.. or when you get home on Saturday :) I know you are having the time of your lives and that is the main thing.. to enjoy.

btw the AUD is crap against every currency just now.. 51 euro cents last time I checked, when it was 60 just a few months ago.. so that is DEFINITELY not helping things... still just enjoy because you deserve it and it's all good :)
