When I looked into it a few years back, it was pay first and then get some money back. The vet I worked at didn't take insurance and other vets I have been to do not offer it either. Probably cost more than what is worth in profits or something.

Yes, I think that's how the insurance policies here work, too - you pay the vet, and then claim part of it back through the insurance company. Who can find that kind of money up front?  :( The worst bill I've ever had was around $750 (Australian) so I've never had any true shockers, though that was bad enough. I don't know what I would do if I needed to come up with some $2,000. I'd probably find a way, but don't ask me how.

The insurance policies here are not offered by the veterinary surgeries themselves, they are offered by insurance companies.

Anyway, your pics are beautiful, both your sheltie and parrot.  :)

Sorry, I need to be a better writer. But that is how it is done here too.  When I was working at the vets office, somehow the question came up and I remember him just saying that he does not take insurance. Don't know if there was another type of insurance out there since I haven't paid attention to it for a few years.
And thank you for the compliment.

Sluff, Scooter is sooo sweet looking!!!  You can tell he'd be devoted, he has that look, I have a special person, where is he???  Chris I am sorry you had to give away your sheltie, at least you know where she is and she is safe and happy.  Not knowing is sometimes worse than knowing what happened to a loved pet.

Chris,
Scooter has a lot of white but the picture was just a black and white picture. He has some light tan markings also.

Chris, I love the picture of Boogie and Nikko, both posing and both full of 'tude. Kitkatz, poor Missy, poor Momma, poor Momma's wallet! Our short hairy family members are by no means a small commitment. I hope things go well.

Here's a pic of my hunnies:

Jeez that picture is huge, and I even used Epoman's resizing program and instructions.

Anyway, the big guy is Harry Blackmun and he is my baby. He loves to be carried and held. It was much cooler when he was a kitten. Now he weighs 16 lbs (7.3 kg ;D). The small guy is Thurgood Marshall. He is just the HOTTEST guy! He has a thing for Rolando's wife, and he also wants to meet Xena and Ming (ooh baby!) And he's got that sexy, gravelly voice that siamese have (he's a mutt but clearly part siamese).

Twice a year fleas get bad here in Tampa. These two always let me know by going and hanging out in the bathroom. They normally don't hang out there, but that's where I flea comb them. It's their way of letting me know that they need it.

What a cutie Charlotte, So Box are you stuck in Charlettes web?   :lol;
She runs into the leaf pile and disappears she is so tiny. Expect her to grow to a whopping 10-12lbs or for you dialyzers 4.6 to 5.5 kilos. After a bad weekend I can take that much off! ;D...Boxman

Here is one of my babies.   "Frost" is an 11-year-old retired Greyhound.  He raced until the age of 5 and we adopted him about six months off the track.  He is the best dog ever!   :2thumbsup;

Great pics of the all the dogs.
My friend also adopted a retired Greyhound racer and she is sweet, just do not leave the door open. If you do, don't expect her back till an hour later...lol
Since I live with my parents, my mother has two ragdoll cats, but their not mine. If I post those pics, the dogs will eat them :rofl;

Kelly, those dogs are so lovable! Frost's face looks so sad, poor baby!!  Pup's eyes are so intent, so focused on you, so cute!

Thank you.  Frost is my baby!  He is not a sad dog, but he is 100% retired!  ;D  He does look super sad in his photo, though.  He sleeps/naps about 20 hrs daily.  He is only awake to eat (which he totally lives for), to do his business outside (which only takes him about 5 minutes because he's terrified I'm going to leave him out there) and to play with Pup for about a total of 1 hr (not at one time).  I highly suggest adopting Greyhounds.  They are extremely grateful!

I also enjoy the photos of the cats.  I haven't owned a cat since I was in my teens.  I don't even know anyone that has a cat.  They're so independent!  Love that...

These are my mom's cats I live with. Light colored one is Taffy and the dark one is Patches. Patches must be part dog. He likes to play with other dogs, even the large ones and likes to run around outside and chase things. Bad part, if you leave him in the backyard long enough, he goes to the bathroom in the flower bed and well burries his gift. :rofl;

Chloe (the smaller one in my avatar pic) had some sun-induced lumps removed from her belly ten days ago. We are just about to take her to the vet, in about 10 minutes, to have the stitches removed.

She is 14 years old and coped very well with the surgery. It hasn't slowed her down.
