Wow, I am late on this, but Goofynina, your kitten is so cute!  I love Siamese cats, and Xena fits her great!  I agree with those against declawing.  I think it should be avoided at all costs.  I also agree that you need to get her used to frequent nail trimmings (they are really easy, just cut the clear part with human nail clippers) and she will grow out of MOST of the clawing.  She may still do it a little, but it will get better.  Plus having lots of good stuff for her to scratch helps.  If she starts scratching the couch, say no, and take her to a scratching post - it works!

Best of luck with your sweetie!

Oh, and cycobully, I am so glad you're educating all of us here about pits.  I hate how they've gotten such a bad rep.  I've worked as a vet tech for almost 7 years and they are not as horrible as people make them out to be.  Put it this way - in 7 years working with dogs/cats, I've NEVER been bitten by a pit.  I've been badly bitten by a feral cat once, and a few times by small, "yippy" dogs (once a Chihuahua, once a Lhasa/Shih thing, and once by a Dachshund.

Angela, when you get a dog remember to keep it on heartworm preventative every month.  It's really important.

I don't actually have a pet.  These are my grandparents pets.  Jake is the goldenretriever and Slick is the black "panther".

That are fat like their mommie.  LOL   :popcorn;  Believe it or not, I feed them light Iams.  LOL  I just feed them all the time.  They beg me so I feel bad.  I dont have kids yet, so they are like my kids.  When I see a skinny cat I catch myself saying "Oh poor hungry kitty".   No the cat is not hungry and it is normal size.  I am just used to see my fat babies.  I have one staring at me right now wanting my cereal with milk.   :cookie;

Here's Dorothy being her typical, idiotic self, but you need to note that my husband is actually lying on the bed, under those blankets! Being jumped all over:

Thanx every1!  Slick is the sweetest cat.  If you pick him up, he automatically will CLAW his way over to your left shoulder.  Don't know why, but that is his favorite view point. ;)  I need to get a better pic of him, so you can see how big he really is.  :pics;
