Ok I have had a bad cold sore throat for a while now. Now the cough remains and it is persistant. I saw a doctor (not mine) on Monday. I was given prednisone and sudafed for 'allergies'. I am seeing my regular doctor tomorrow but now I am experiencing night sweats, which I never have before and its so nasty. I feel like I have a smell to me now too... This other doctor may have misdiagnosed me and I may have pneumonia. It hurts by my right lung area when i breathe in, and Im still wheezing so this prednisone and sudafed hasnt helped at all! I am beyond frustrated, and on top of that I have class today at 4. What should I do??

I would call Nurse direct or your Doctors Nurse and ask them. I would think they would have you come in right away.

Call them back, and ask for a chest x ray. Sorry you are feeling so bad.

Karen
go to the er, go to the doctor - whatever it takes
your health has to come first
you are not under the best situation to learn when you are so sick
you may end up in ICU
then you will miss more classes
you can get a note from the doctor to take to class
it worries me that your lung hurts
I developed pneumonia while in the hospital during that parathyroid surgery and it took me two weeks in the hospital to get well
your health has to come first
yes, education is important
but  you have to take care of yourself
screw that b==== that made the comment
watch---- she will be in a car wreck or get the flu or something
my son used to think the same thing
until he was in 3rd or 4th grade and had to go to the hospital for asmea  --- can't spell this word close enough for spell check :banghead;
he had never missed one day

Get to the doctor now.
Class can wait and your teachers will understand if you explain it to them later.

Karen, please don't take what I am about to say to heart because I have felt this way my entire adult life and it seems to be getting worse.

GET TO THE DOCTOR OR EMERGENCY ROOM NOW. You have had whatever it is for over a week and it is not going to get better on it's own. Len started with sore throat on Thursday before Labor Day and Friday morning I called out GP and he told me to bring Len right in. He put him on an antibiotic and some cough medicine. He told us that is we had waited until Sunday he would of had Pneumonia and with all the lung problems he has had in the past, it could kill him. Go now.

Okay, now the  :rant; When you are sick, please stay home. What is someone that is in your class had a lung transplant and you didn't know. You show up sick and give whatever you have to them, NOT GOOD. No matter how careful you are, you touch door handles, desk, bathroom faucets, and God knows what else. When I was working I would get so pissed at co-workers that told me their child was up sick all night running a fever and they still dropped them off at the babysitters so they can affect a dozen kids who in turn can take it home and affect another whole family and all their co-workers. If you would of stayed home last week, maybe you would be better by now. It is time to tell your professors what is going on with you and notify your doctor that you need some kind of note or statement entailing what you need to do. I'm done. Sorry.  :shy;

Like twirl said, your health should be your number one priority and then everything else. I truly hope you get seen and start to feel better. please keep us updated.  :cuddle;

I've been thinking about you all day Karen and hoping that you've been back to see your doctor.    :grouphug;  Be sure to do it.

I also agree with W&W about the need to talk to your prof(s) about your situation.  Only a complete and utter jerk would not be understanding and most teachers would in fact admire your determination to continue your education.  (I taught French at the university level for twelve years and I would have been happy to make adjustments for your circumstances.

As an immunosuppressed person myself in the classroom I would rather make up another test than catch an illness from a sick person's paper.   :cuddle;

I went to the doctor yesterday-thursday. I was seen right away, and given a chest x-ray that didnt show anything really, but they suspected I had atypical pneumonia, and admitted me overnight, and put me on some antibiotics and some breathing medicines. I came home a while ago and now I am just in bed relaxing. I still feel kind of wheezy, but since I had no fever they dischaged me. I have had a crazy high pulse rate all the time- at times it reached 136. I didnt go to my dialysis only because I had chest pains, and felt dizzy. They have me on for tomorrow night. I hope that whatever I have/had is on its way OUT. I feel better though, thanks everyone!
