Hi all,
I am a 22 yr old college student. I am a junior a Vanderbilt University. I had my first transplant(deceased donor) in 2000. The kidney has started to fail me. i am really hurt, angry, frustrated and scared. I didnt want this at this point in my life. The first time i did dialysis(hemo), i did it for 8 months and i was in middle school. I did well with it both physically and mentally. Now it is harder because im older and im a college student. I will say when the doctor told me that i needed dialysis, i wanted to start the next day. I wanted to get on with it. I am determine not to let dialysis ruin my life. Fortunately, i am bless to have two people who want to donate-my mom and cousin. I hope to gain valuable insight from you guys
thanks

Welcome, Mike. Sorry you've been through so much at such a young age. Fortunately you're in a good location with one of the best kidney centers in the country. I think you will be glad you joined us. There's tons of good information and many people who have been down the same road you are on.

Dialysis cannot ruin your life unless you allow it to. I have been at this for ten years now. Welcome and good luck.
