First just let me say how much I appreciate all the
wonderful messages.  Thank you so much, guys!!

Last nite about 11:30 Debbie from Unos called to say
the kidney was infected when the surgeion removed it,
so of course it cannot be transplanted.

My husband needless to say was so dissapointed, as was
all of my family.  It was a huge letdown.

But, we will keep our chins up and keep praying!

I told the  coordinator to please tell the donor's family
how appreciative we were of their offering, and that
my prayers are with their loved one.

I will post again later,

Anne

Anne, I'm so sorry. There will be another call.  :cuddle; Tell Les that we are all thinking about him. Let us know how things are going.  :grouphug;

Anne -- My heart aches for Les and you.  I know exactly where you are -- Marvin has had eight "calls" to be on standby.  One was a perfect match but it was damaged in the harvesting.  One was a direct donation request for Marvin (woman's family in a nearby town knew of Marvin's plight and when she was severely injured and declared brain dead in an accident, they wanted one of her kidneys to go to him).  This one -- when tested the final time at the hospital -- wouldn't match Marvin because of his high, high antibodies.  Both times -- in fact, all eight times -- were devastating for us.

There is nothing I can say to make it better for you now -- except hang in there.  The call will come again for Les -- and for my Marvin.  I feel your pain, Anne, and I'm crying for you and with you.

Anne and Les,
I believe that it's a good sign that you got a call and will keep praying that Les's kidney is coming soon!
Sorry about the disappointment. These feel like "practice" calls til the real thing comes.
Best wishes!  :cuddle;

Sending thanks to all you guys for the wonderful
moral support!  That is what makes this board so
very special, the great people who are there when-
ever one needs a lil pat on the back.

My Big Guy was very upset last nite- (I have not seen
him cry often, last nite was one of the times) but
we talked and he went fishing today with one of our
very best friends.  (Caught 4 nice fluke, too)  He is
now upbeat once again, and enjoying the nice day
outside.

Once again, thank you!

Anne, I am so sad for you and Les.   :grouphug;  Wow, what a let down.  Its a good thing they found out it was infected before they gave it to Les tho.  I know you will get the call again soon.... very soon I hope.

So sorry to hear of your bad news. I had a transplant lined up about a year before Allan's came through. I was very dissapointed, but it actually made me better prepared for the real deal.
Big hugs to you both  :grouphug;

You should have seen ME crying when Marvin's calls ended up in disappointment -- I even screamed and cussed at the transplant coordinator one time!

I'm glad Les was able to get out with a friend and enjoy the day.  In spite of the bumps in the road, the "dead end" streets (or "dead end" calls for Les and Marvin and others), and the "Bridge Out Ahead -- Find another way around" .....  life really does go on.  Give that big guy some extra love tonight!

The waiting is so tough and so is the disappointment.  Only thing worse would have been to have an infected kidney transplanted and then go through the misery.  Hoping another chance will come soon. :grouphug;
