My Grandson Adam, who is one of the most kind hearted children I have ever known (he offered Len one of his kidneys) had his tonsils out today. I feel so bad for him, 10 years old and scared to death, wanted someone to go back to the OR with him (heart breaking for a Mom and Grandma). The surgeon said his tonsils were horrible and were full of pus, Yuk. She did a new method on him that uses sound waves (I haven't read up on it yet), but she claims, healing is faster and not as painful. I was surprised that she said he can't go to school for a week, that seems like a long time to be out, but what do I know. When he started waking up he cried for his Mom and my daughter just about lost it. I told her that in a month or so, it will be a distant memory and he'll be heathlier (doctors said he is very small for his age). I'm just so relieved it is over with. STRESSFUL...

W&W, so sorry you had to go through this today. Like you said, he'll be healthier. A friend's son got his tonsils out, and was finally able to sleep through the night for the first time in his life - he couldn't sleep well because he couldn't breathe due to his tonsils be so swollen. Hope he gets lots of ice cream for dessert!  :cuddle;

KT, that's the problem Adam has been having. Hasn't sleep through the night since he was born. Doesn't eat real good because he's throat always hurt. I hope this is the end of that for him. He'll be more spoiled then he already is by the time this week is over. Len and I are going tomorrow to get the new chimpmonks movie for him and mint ice cream.  Thanks for the hug. I needed it.  :thx;

Poor Adam!  That is a terrifying experience for a fella his age.  Yes, yes, yes -- lots of ice cream -- and pudding and Jell-O.  Spoil him extra this week, w&w!!  I hope he feels better (and sleeps better) soon.  This is for Adam --  :cuddle;

He should get going really quick.  It took me two weeks to recover at the age of 16 from tonsils being taken out.

Everyone, thanks for asking about Adam.  :thx; Len and I just got back from seeing him. He really looks good, upset stomach from the antibiotics and pain medicine on an empty stomach. Ramona (my daughter was making him some mash potatoes) and he ate a Popsicle. We got him the movie and a transformer (which he loves) and he said he was going to take a nap because the room was spinning. Ramona said he slept better last night then he ever has, but did get her up at 4:30am because his throat hurt. He told us that he was mad at his Mom for making him get his tonsils out and his Pop Len told him she did it because she loves him and he'll feel better for it. I don't think he believed him. 10 year olds are something. I'm just glad it is over. Relief is what I feel. Thanks again you guys, your great.

10 year olds are very funny creatures...they don't believe anything, I'm convinced! Glad he's feeling and sleeping better!

Poor Adam!  Glad he is feeling better today!  It's so hard at that age to go through anything like that.  My son would be a complete wreck if he had to have an operation.  The great thing is, he is feeling better and you guys can spoil him with love for a whole week.

Poor Adam!  Hopefully by now he's in better condition, and doesn't hurt as much, and can sleep
through the night, finally!!!  My heart breaks when our children have to have procedures that
are painful. You just want to take the pain for them.

Our son Bryce had his out when he was 7, the night b-4 we had a Good bye tonsil party with cake and all. He would role a pillow in a ball to put under his neck to help himself breathe. That's when we found out he was allergic to Codeine, he was a wild man running all over the place at 2am. He was out for a week and went back to school like nothing had happened. He was bummed he couldn't keep his Tonsils in a jar so his Dr took pictures of them to show his Friends. They where HUGE, biggest one's Dr had seen in a long time. Hope Adam is doing well. :big hug:
