I just finished the last installment in Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series.  It is an excellent series and I definitely think everyone should read it!
I am now waiting for the next and last book in the series.  It will be a long wait until the next hard back comes out.  Moan of complaint over here.

I love Anne McCaffrey books, as well as Mercedes Lackey.

Good thread!

Loved Rosamunde Pilcher's Coming Home.
Love Amy Tan's books.
Currently reading Nectar in a Sieve - very interesting so far.

I'll have to look at my bookcase to jog my memory further.

The one and only time i read one of Oprah's book of the month, it was James Frey, A Million little pieces.  Yesssss, i actually believed that crap,  i couldnt put that book down, it was everywhere, i seen people reading it in their cars, the hair salon, reading it at Wal Mart, I had to read it,  Frances, my friend i used to ride with (awesome lady)  bought it for me cuz i was always talking about it,  i think she bought for me so i just shut up already huh? lol, well, it just made me talk more about it,  i couldnt believe what this man went through, then, come to find out, it was all a fake,  James Frey was called on it by Oprah and he admitted it, ugh, how embarrasing huh?

I like sci-fi / fantasy myself, but here are a few of my favorites.

Anything by J.R.R. Tolkien is gold in my opinion.

The Dragonriders of Pern is fantastic

Anything by Piers Anthony is fantastic.  Try either the Incarnations Of Immortality series, or the Xanth series.  Both are excellent in my mind.  Xanth is much more humorous though, every book is very Punny (No not Funny, Punny as in full of Puns).

I also love a book called The Crystal Cave.  It is about Merlins life before the whole King Arthur thing.

Preston and Child Books are classic horror books. I love Agent Pendergrast. They wrote Relic and Reliquary and a whole series with him in it.  Spooky books that will leave you with tingle down your back.

Dean Koontz  best book was From the Corner of His Eye.  When the little boy pushed the bad guy...I about lost my mind!

I like Stephen King's early books.  He got gruesome and weird for awhile there.

Sue Grafton ABC detective books

Jonathan Kellerman Alex Deleware series

As you can see I read, read, read!

Flight 653 From Austin by Jim Yates (True Story)
Short read, but very good.

The urgent cross-country phone call instantly plunged Jim Yates into a long, deadly struggle for the life of his precious daughter.  The next agonizing months would force him into a head on confrontation with the deceptive, mind-numbing world of New Age medicine that was slowly draining the life out of his child.  She has kidney failure.........

Close to Shore  Capuzzo

about the shark attacks in 1916 along the Jersey coast
not a Jaws book
you get to know the people the shark eats
and it is all true                                                                             :bump;  what does this one mean
got the paperback because the hardback was about $35.00

Marley and Me
wonderful true story and I have to tell you the dog dies at the end of old age
but the story is so touching especially if you ever loved a pet
I read the very end at dialysis
and was in tears
and a dialysis nurse wanted to know why I was crying
I told her
and she made fun of me for crying over the ending of the book
guess she has never loved a book
how sad is that

Currently reading one by Kay Hooper called "Stealing Shadows" which is the first in a trilogy.  And the trilogy is part of a series abt psychics who help the cops solve crimes.  I like that stuff.  And they are easy reads.

The last one I finished was called "Undertow" by Sydney Bauer.  It's a legal thriller!  It's only available right now in hard back and it's huge!  I read it in 4 days!

Other good ones I've read:

Cover of Night by Linda Howard

Two Little Girls in Blue by Mary Higgins Clark

All Through the Night by Mary Higgins Clark

The "In Death" books by J.D. Robb a.k.a. Nora Roberts
