National Kidney Registry Announces Sally Satel, M.D. to Join Medical BoardWednesday March 5, 1:56 pm ET
NEW YORK, NY--(MARKET WIRE)--Mar 5, 2008 -- The National Kidney Registry, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those facing kidney failure, is pleased to announce the addition of Sally Satel, M.D. to its Medical Board. Dr. Satel is a Resident Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, Lecturer at the Yale School of Medicine, a Psychiatrist at the Oasis Drug Clinic and a kidney recipient.
Dr. Satel has been published extensively and has been active in areas where medicine intersects politics. She served on the National Advisory Council for the Center for Mental Health Services, was a member of the Fowler Commission and was a Consultant to the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging. More recently, her personal story of how she faced kidney failure and found a living donor was published in the New York Times.
"I am honored that Dr. Satel has joined our medical board. In addition to her experience in medicine and politics, she is the first kidney recipient to join the Registry's Medical Board and brings that unique and valuable perspective to our organization," said Garet Hil, Founder of the National Kidney Registry.
"The Kidney Registry is a very exciting, creative and ambitious effort to enlarge the number of kidney donors. I am most gratified to help Mr. Hil fulfill the life-saving promise of his bold idea," said Dr. Satel.
