Hello everone, I'm a 59 year old medically retired OTR truck driver and I miss it alot. I started dialysis in Oct 05 and was on until Sep of 06 when my Dr. took me off since I regained some function (19%). Things were good again until my check up in Dec of 07 when Dr. determined my kidneys were down to 5%. Well at least I had 15 months of freedom from dialysis and enjoyed the open road again making a good living for my family. Frazzled, my wife, who also just joined this site has been my HERO. Without her, I might not be here, she takes care of my lousy renal diet, reads everything she can about my disease, and watches my bloodwork like a hawk. I'm happy I found this site, Always nice to talk to others in this situation. We're going strong as can be expected enjoying our house and family in the Springfield, Mo area.

Welcome to our community! We are glad you decided to join us. You will find that this site will be one of your weapons as you face this renal challenge. We are contemporaries, both in age and in dialysis - I am 58 and started dialysis Sep 05! This site has been a godsend to me. And as others will tell you, and as you will see as you continue to read, this site has become a real family - caring, sharing and supporting. So keep reading and keep posting. We like to know how things are going with you.

Welcome to ihatedialysis.com jwlikins,
I've been off the road since 1995. I drove coast to coast for about 8 years. Had my own truck for a little while but that didn't work out to well because of a lot of breakdowns. I hope you enjoy reading and learning from IHD. Post as often as you like. We are like family around here.

Howdy from Texas
Glad to know you
I had to leave my teaching job and I do not think I'll ever get over it.
I miss my students and school support.
Your wife sounds to good to be true.
Do you dream about driving?
I dream about teaching all the time.
IHD will help.
but by driving a truck are you used to being in the driver's seat for many hours at a time?
just wondered
