Our cat has decreed an 11th commandment in our house:

Thou shalt sleep with thy cat in between thee every night because thy cat wants to be warm.
If said cat cannot sleepeth between thee, then said cat shall sleep in front of the little heater by the bed and not share the heat with thee.

Yes we have lost out minds over here!

My cat does the same trick - she wedges herself between the heater and anyone sitting near it so she blocks the air flow completely.

Yet more proof that while dogs have owners, cats have STAFF. Thanks for the laugh!

This used to annoy my ex-gf SOOOO much!! Though even now I think she laughs about it and secretly at the time I think she kind of liked it in a weird way.

What my cat would do is this... We'd go to sleep all snuggled up and spooning and stuff (mmmm :) ) and then wake up next morning with her on one side of the bed, me on the other and little miss curled up in between us soaking up dual body heat looking oh so innocent (yet content)....

Always wondered how she managed to do that!

Heaters scare me, so the rules at my house are:

- yorkie mix against left neck / shoulder
- dachshund under the covers, between legs
- cat at feet
- cat at right side
- cat on face or chest

and I wonder why I wake up tired and spitting fur out of my mouth!

My cat likes to crawl on top of my back or hip when I'm sleeping. I am the mattress she prefers.  I wake up in a knot.  She knows to wait until I'm really out of it, though, so I don't wake up and toss her off!
