Nala - Mom's Cat

« on: January 28, 2008, 08:22:02 AM »

Mom just got a call from her neph. He said that the vascular surgeon told him that he wanted to wait until she can be safely off Plavix for a while prior to the fistula/graft surgery. I am slightly confused. I told the neph that when we went to vascular doc he said that he could do the surgery while on Plavix, it just may take longer in order to make sure she stopped bleeding. Better safe than sorry. Mom has been feeling good and has no signs of worsening as far as swelling or nausea. We want to make sure she eats well and drinks little and the right stuff too.

Now it looks like she'll get her sleep apnea unit on 2/12, get knee surgery on 7/7, and the fistula soon after.

I am on plavix and am having my fistula redone today. My Dr. say it's! no problem. Although I have been placed on hold on the transplant list for six months  Good Luck!

Thanks for the well wishes! I will question the vasc doc about what he said to me and then what he actually decided. Maybe they don't think there is a real urgency and that they can take the time just to be extra cautious.

Odat it could be your Mom's age that's making them extra careful.  You're both in my prayers.

Love, Mimi
