Me with Baron von Fresenius

« on: January 17, 2008, 04:34:51 PM »

Through the whole day yesterday, I'd been dealing with a lot of indigestion (something fairly normal for me). Normally I take Zantac for that, but I was out, and all that was available were Tums. Now, my calcium levels have been a little high the last few months, but stupid me didn't even think of that as I popped pill after pill throughout the day. Well, all that calcium building up had to come out somehow, and that started with explosive diarrhea right after I finished treatment. That ended, then for the rest of the night it was some puking and a lot of mucus collecting in my mouth. After all that, I was so weak I couldn't even lift my head. My mom had to practically carry me to my bedroom and put me in bed. I fell asleep almost immediately and slept for 11 hours straight. I've felt ok, but I set my machine so I would have a longer, slower treatment today to help clear the remaining calcium from my system. I have now put tums in the same category as bananas and starfruit, as in, absolutely NO! If I don't have a calcium free antacid available, I'll just deal with the indigestion until I can get one.

Time to stock up on Maloxx!  (Then the only thing making you vomit is the taste. . .)

Sharon uses 1 Prilosec every day. has not had any problems for almost a year now, a 6 week supply is only $25.00 from Costco, and I see in their latest "magazine" they will soon be selling their own Kirkland brand of Prilosec, did not mention price, but I'm sure it will be substantially lower. I spoke with her Neph about my concern that the package cautions to only take it for 2 weeks, but he assured me that was only on the package to warn people to not use it longer unless they were under a Doctors care (you know what trouble some people get into by self-medicating), might ask your Doc about it.....

Man, Adam. what a horrible experience to go through.

What's bad is how tired you are after all that!!! No wonder you slept for 11 hours straight!!!

Sure hope it gets cleaned out so you can get back to your life!!

Is it something constant,  the indigestion?

Maybe your doctor might give you something like a proton pump inhibitor.   Something like aciphex.

I feel a lot better, and I'm now on Prilosec once a day. Next time I see my doc I'll ask him about a prescription antacid I may be able to take.
