Phurball, just a thought, I take blood thinners (warfarin) to help resist clotting while on the machine but they don't give me heparin too, they use a citrate sp? bath. It takes me less then 10 minutes after they pull the needles to stop bleeding. I guess my point is you might be getting to much with the heparin and the other thinner. Talk to your nepth...Boxman

Happy to read that your treatment went well.
Be sure to tell your neph the entire story! What
happened to you was truly horrible-make sure that
you stick to your guns, I pray you will have no further
problems!

So glad they worked with you. You must have handled it very well to get such a positive response. Good job.

Thank god you are doing somewhat better...it will take time. Several things...it has been a while since i've been so angry about somthing. I did hemo when i first started and i used to have SEVERE panic attacks to the point where they had to take me off the machine a few times. My doctor prescribed me Xanax which is an antianxiety pill. It helped. I do not know what dialysis center you go to but if it is a Ferneus (not sure how it is spelled) they have a grievience process that you can go through. i would also advise that you write a letter to the director, head nurse and your neph about what happened. We are all here for you and like i said it will take time to overcome this fear. there is also the option on doing CAPD, which is what i do now, and i love it. I have to do it 4 times a day but you get used to it and you are the boss of your care. I have also had to to tell charge nurses what techs i did nto want near me when i was on hemo and i have had several stupid and incompetent ones to say the least. We are all here for you and care deeply. Please continue to let us knwo what happens with this case. and remember SPEAK UP AND LOUDLY if someone comes near you you dont want. it will cause a comotion and the charge nurse will usually take care of it herself or get the person you want...and also remember you are the boss of your care as others have said. Take care.
