Hi everyone - first of all good luck to everyone both donors and reciepients and secondly God Bless America!!  :usaflag; :usaflag; Here is my story. I am 30 year old female who has been on dialysis for a year and a half. I was doing hemo and then switched over to PD. I had a kidney transplant 3 years ago but it failed and thus on dialysis. I have always had kidney failure and found out when i was 12 that i would need medication. The great doctors at Bostons Children's Hospital and then at Mass General helped me maintain kidney function to some capaicity over the years. I managed to get through high school, college and then grad school. I am a well educated woman who can't hold down a job because of my kidney issues, and depression. I taught for a while but it got to be too hard to do and each year my contract would not be renewed. I miss alot of days of work because i unfortunatly spend alot to time in the hospital. i have family but we don't speak after a big falling out and very few friends so talking to others on this site is extreamly helpful. i am back on the list but was told that it woiudl take a long time to get a cadaver donor due to my being so sensitive and also being an O type of blood. My doctors suggested i look into getting a living donor. While it would be a miracle to get a kidney, i pray that i will get one this year. I want to live a long happy NORMAL life. i don't want to do dialysis forever though there are plenty of people who do it for long periods of time. Thanks in advance for any support i recieve. my doctors tell me that going through another transplant will be very hard and that i need as much support that i can get as i dont have support from any family.

Welcome, Claudia.  Dialysis is hard, it's harder when you're single, so I can sympathize with you there!

 :welcomesign; Claudia, I think you will find all the support you need here. This is an incredible group of people and are always there when you need someone.  There are several of us with high PRA's who know that getting a transplant may not be possible. Thankfully, everyone here has helped me through a lot of emotions and feelings.  Keep posting and tell us more about you.   :cuddle;

Claudia  :welcomesign;.  I really hate that you don't have the support of your family.  But don't loose hope, we are here day or night.  Share all that you feel you need to get out.  We'll be your support.

Welcome Claudia! I'm sorry your biological family hasn't been supportive. You're part of this family now and I hope we can fill in some of the holes.

You are not alone in feeling this way.  We are here to support each other.  Many of us here have to stop working due to the kidney stuff.

Is your failed transplant kidney from a cadaver or live donor?

Welcome to our community, Claudia!  My lateness is due to computer problems.   I really understand what you are going through.  I am an educator as well, who is presently unemployed because of my dialysis.  this site is just the place for you to come.  this is a real family.  Such a group of sharing and caring people are rare, but that is what we have here.  When you need to vent and rage, this is the place to be.  When you want people to share your joy (about anything!) this is the place to come.
Please take advantage of all this site has to offer, and above all, keep posting.  We need to know how you are doing, and this is the only way.  Here is a hug from all of us. :grouphug;
